French boys' names that are easy to pronounce

BlueBelle81 · 30/01/2020 19:49

I am expecting a baby in June and I'm really stuck for boys names.

I already have a little boy called Raphael and I just can't think of another name I love as much.

I was very keen on Aubrey but I think it's being used for girls more and more and DH blows hot and cold on it.
I am of French origin and I'd like a name that reflects that and can be easily pronounced in French and English (and won't make his life unbearable in a West Yorkshire comprehensive....)

My husband likes Gabriel (but that would be 2 archangels) and Laszlo (would feel a bit funny as it's neither French nor English)
I like various unsuitable french names...Guillaume especially.

Please help! I'd love to read your suggestions.

Pierre

Charles-Valentin (we actually considered this one!)

Arnod (pron Arno)
Guy (pron Ge)
Balthazar

I have never heard Remy for a girl and I love it for a boy. Also love Etienne.

Romain
Quentin
Sebastien

are the names of French/British teens we know.

WildHorsesRunInMe · 30/01/2020 23:17

Thomas works well in both.

OverUnderSidewaysDown · 30/01/2020 23:26

Quentin is a great name. I always thought the artist Quentin de la Tour sounded wonderfully noble and romantic!

margotsdevil · 30/01/2020 23:31

Alexandre is very manageable...

BlueBelle81 · 31/01/2020 00:11

Thanks again everyone. Some names I really love have come up. I think I'll whittle down my list and try DH again....

Have you ruled out a double-name like Jean-Paul ?

(assume not Jean because of pronunciation difficulties) but in a similar vein?

Jossina · 31/01/2020 00:20

Jacques
Jean-Luc
Pierre
Armand

BlueBelle81 · 31/01/2020 00:22

I think I have ruled out double barrelled names because the do feel a bit meh to my taste... When I lived in France every other boy was called JP or JB!

Patrick works well in both!

ballsdeep · 31/01/2020 00:32

Yves?

TatianaLarina · 31/01/2020 12:02

As Sebastian is taken Gabriel is the stand out for me.

If you’re in the U.K. many people won’t twig they’re both angels.

Love Thibault but I don’t think it works here. He will be Thigh balt and Tie balt.

Grufallosfriends · 31/01/2020 12:31

I know a Thibault who has no problems in the UK. Saying Tee bo isn't that difficult...!

Doyoumind · 31/01/2020 12:34

Lillian.

Birchwoods · 31/01/2020 12:56

I know someone with a Raphael and a Gabriel, I think they go beautifully together. From the suggestions made I love Etienne and Florian.
