Vita? I saw this suggested on another thread and I love the meaning and sound.

Middle names will be Catherine + Mary/Jane/Iris.

Other first name ideas we’re playing with at the moment: Phoebe, Verity, Louisa, Lucy, Emma, Freya, Beatrice.

Siblings are Alexander, Ellen, Orla and Daphne

Prefer the other names on your list, especially Verity. I like Vida, but have never heard of Vita. Reminds me of vitamins or vitaligo Confused

Not overly keen. LOVE Emma though.

Flissmoon · 22/01/2020 08:42

Thanks, it is a bit more unusual or unfamiliar than our other names, but I really like it. Verity was suggested by someone on here, that’s got a lovely meaning too but DH isn’t as keen.

Maybe Vera? Is it a bit old ladyish?

Love Vita but don't like Verity.

Love your children’s names OP!

I like Vita. I’ve never heard it before but it’s unusual without being too out there. I think it goes nicely with her siblings names too.

AmelieTaylor · 22/01/2020 09:41

Vera is old fashioned and I prefer Emma or Lucy, but it’s still preferable to Vita.

Sorry, but to me it sounds like a health product Vita Life or Vita -vitamin - English or American.

She’ll end up saying ‘Vita-like Rita, but with a V (IF that’s how you want it pronounced and not Vita like vitamin)

And there will be more variations in the spelling than you can possibly imagine.

penisbeakers · 22/01/2020 09:49

Sounds like a brand of mineral water.

Boireannachlaidir · 22/01/2020 17:19

It makes me think of how one of the Igors from Überwald in a Terry Pratchett novel would pronounce Rita.

Either that or Weetabix. Sorry, not a fan.

Valerié is a nice V name (if you're French..)

daisypond · 22/01/2020 17:27

I like it. I would have thought most would have heard of Vita Sackville West, even if it is a nickname.

PrimeraVez · 22/01/2020 17:31

There’s a Vita in my youngest’s nursery class and I’ve always assumed she had non- English parents. Not that that’s a bad thing, but to me it sounds a bit more exotic than your other names which to my ear, sound more traditional.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 22/01/2020 17:41

No.Ry-Vita

villamariavintrapp · 22/01/2020 20:51

Is it pronounced like ryvita? Or like vitalite? Either way I prefer Veda.

TatianaLarina · 23/01/2020 14:39

Love Iris, Beatrice and Phoebe, the others not so much.

emmathedilemma · 23/01/2020 17:22

Any of the others but not Vita! It sounds like it should be one of those bioculture yogurt drinks.
