Thoughts please ...

Nice?
Would it be better to go for Delilah and shorten it?
Popular?

No, not for me. It’s too bland. Lyra is better.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 19/01/2020 18:48

It's high on my girls list

WisestIsShe · 19/01/2020 18:49

I know a little Lyla and she's fabulous, so it's a yes from me. I like short pretty names.

mamablondie · 19/01/2020 18:49

@daisypond I’m hiding this from my OH because I hate Lyra and he loves it Grin

It’s nice but agree Lyra is prettier.
My DD is a Lydia, in the same ball park I guess

SpeckledyHen · 19/01/2020 18:52

Lyla is lovely. Lyra is likely to be turned into liar by unpleasant children.

Soubriquet · 19/01/2020 18:54

I like Lyla

Though I know a little girl spelled Lilah

user1493494961 · 19/01/2020 19:45

Dislike the Lyla, Lola, Luna trend.

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 19/01/2020 19:50

Love it. Lyla and Lyra. Love Delilah actually.
-stealing that one for my list-
I work in a hospital with newborns. Don't see many of any of those names.

Literaryseed · 19/01/2020 19:51

I would spell it Lilah but agree with others that Lyra is much nicer. Lyla is just asking to be mispelt and pronounced.

MikeUniformMike · 19/01/2020 20:26

I don't like Lyra. Lyla is not a pretty spelling but Lilah is, but there are so many L names of four or five letters around that it seems dull.

MikeUniformMike · 19/01/2020 20:28

Delilah is probably a lot more popular than you think. It's a cracking Tom Jones song but a bit much to live up to as a name.

How about Delia?

diddlediddle · 19/01/2020 20:40

Delilah shortened to Lila is delightful

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/01/2020 21:39

I don't like it, but I don't think you need to put Delilah on her BC. Why is no name allowed to be a name i n it's own right. What's this obsession with not just using a short name. Also if you put Delilah on her BC she might opt to be known as Dee or Dee -Dee

Whatsyourflava · 19/01/2020 22:48

I really love Delilah. I know one Delilah and her nickname is Lyla (probs not spelt like that but still).

DramaAlpaca · 19/01/2020 22:52

Yes to Delilah shortened to Lyla.

mastertomsmum · 19/01/2020 22:58

I know a Lyla (aged 2) I’d never connected it to Delilah. Not sure about the latter because of the horrid lyrics of the Tom Jones song but guess younger folk will not think of that as it’s a biblical name.

I also know Layla, Lydia, Lyra like all of these

Astronica · 20/01/2020 00:53

Nice name. Much much better than Delilah so would definitely not choose Delilah and shorten it. Only choose Delilah if you're going to call her Delilah.
Also, Lyla is much nicer than Lyra I think.

MinkowskisButterfly · 20/01/2020 07:37

Prefer Leila

Andersonx3 · 21/01/2020 12:21

I would have had it on my list if BIL's partner hadn't decided on it for her DD, I think it's lovely!
