DH says it sounds like Uncle Fester. He prefers Hestia.

It was in a book I was reading.

I don’t really like the name but it is up to you. Personally, it’s a no from me.

I think Hester and Esther are both nice. And didn't think of uncle Fester. All names will have some resemblance to something though. Never heard of Hestia

I know someone who's surname is Hester. She gets called Uncle Fester.

No. Don’t like Esther either. Like Stella and Estella though.

I think it seems to be very much a marmite name, people seem to love it or hate it. I'm afraid I fall in the latter camp. It sounds really ugly to me, I think it's horrible if i'm being honest, sorry. I don't love Ursula either but better than Hester.

Love Hester.

Very much not keen on Ursula.

Hestia is the Greek goddess of hearth and home.

It’s ok but Esther is beautiful.

Esther and Hestia are great

But Hestia makes me think of Hosta, and Hosta makes me think of slugs

Nope. It's really ugly.

Maybe go for Heather instead?

Also, I think there's a John Irving story with a Hester and the kids in the story refer to her as 'Hester the molester' - something to think about....

I’m not a fan of either tbh, but Ursula is my least favourite - it makes me think ‘ulcer’

I like Hester and don't see anything negative about it.

It's a graceful name.

Hestia sounds like an infection.

Hester sounds like fester.

Gorgeous. My first association is the dæmon in His Dark Materials and Lee and Hester are fab characters. Amazed some people don't seem to know the name at all, but that makes it more attractive TBH, better than the endless Eva/Evie that are popular at the moment. Prefer it to Ursula but that's still a good name, Ursula Andress is the person I think of, and frankly the Disney villian is fab.
