Fav girl name is Amy. I just love how classic it is.

As you’ve said you’re not bothered about popularity, Oliver is one of my very fav boys name. I really love Isaac too and Connor

Dyra · 18/01/2020 14:49

Girls

Esther - Really like it. Traditional, but doesn't put me in mind of old ladies.
Marianne - Not a fan. Can't put my finger on it.
Louisa - Nice name. Not among my favourites on your list though.
Martha - Nope. Old lady name. Not for babies.
Ava - It's ok. I know popularity doesn't bother, you, but it's a little too popular for me.
Eva - Classic verging on timeless. One of my favourites on the list.
Frances - Nope. Old lady, and I've never met one I've liked.
Juliet - Eeeeeehhh. Not great. I think it's
Lillian - Don't like it. Lily is much better.
Amy - Very nice name. Second favourite name on your list.
Alexandra - (would use Ally as nn) Nice name. Just not the best. Alex will still come up
Charlotte - Best name on the list. I'm entirely with you on hating Lottie as a NN, but I think Char might come up often. Charley/Charlie is A-OK.

SaorsaSolasta · 18/01/2020 14:51

Marianne - dislike, seems old fashioned
Louisa - really love this
Martha - really like this as well

SoftBlocks · 18/01/2020 15:00

Girls - Juliet, Amy ad Alexandra
Boys- Aaron, Isaac, Rory and Rueben

Dyra · 18/01/2020 15:01

Boys

Oliver - Great name. I know it's popular, and what I said about Ava, but I'm being hypocritical here. Can't go wrong with it as a name.
Aaron - Bit common imo now. Not a huge fan.
Isaac - Good name. Classic. Favourite on the list.
Matthew - Good strong boys name. Will never go out of fashion. Second favourite.
Francis - No. Old man name. Dislike intensely.
Connor - Not a fan.
Reuben - Eeeeeeehhhhh. Not a name I would personally pick. It's an ok name though.
Rory - Too cutesy. I really don't like it.

Batmanandrobin123 · 18/01/2020 15:13

Esther - dislike
Marianne - beautiful classic
Louisa - swoonworthy, I love saying it
Martha - hate
Ava - so dull
Eva - so dull
Frances - not keen prefer on a boy, I like Francesca
Juliet - like, bit unexpected, pretty
Lillian - not keen
Amy - bit too dated to my generation but actually lovely
Alexandra (would use Ally as nn) - beautiful
Charlotte ( this is our fave but I like to use nicknames but I hate chat or lottie. Don't mind Charley but wouldn't go mad for it. Any other suggestions?) - nice but I cant get excited by it

Oliver - boring
Aaron - like also like spelling Aran or Arran after the islands
Isaac - not keen
Matthew - dated but nice
Francis - like this
Connor - not keen
Reuben - like
Rory - my favourite as it's my sons name

I would choose Louisa Marianne or Alexandra, not 100% sure for boys

Whatsyourflava · 18/01/2020 15:21

I find Lilian and Marianne just too frilly. Like they’re two names masquerading as one. Almost sounds a bit like all the Gracie-Rae type names I hear a lot. That’s just my opinion, know others will disagree

Love amy Martha Ava and Eva

Boys love Oliver and Connor

17caterpillars1mouse · 18/01/2020 15:23

That's a long final list lol

Esther - love it and love Essie as a nn

Marianne - I really like it, it has a classic feel

Louisa - nice enough just not for me

Martha - it's OK

Ava - I find it a bit dull

Eva - nice, much better than Ava just not for me

Frances - I find it harsh sounding on a girl, though love Francis on a boy. I love Francesca

Juliet - it's OK

Lillian - love it especially with Lil as the nn rather than Lily

Amy - I like though prefer the Aimee spelling

Alexandra (would use Ally as nn) - nice though not a fan of Ally. Prefer Andi

Charlotte - I like Charlotte nn Charles but like you I'm not a great fan of Lottie, plus Lottie's are everywhere

Boys

Oliver - it's nice but so so popular

Aaron - I like it

Isaac - like it

Matthew - it's OK

Francis - love it

Connor - dislike

Reuben - like it

Rory - like it

From your boys the only one I can get excited about is Francis

From your girls I like Esther, Marianne and Lillian best

userabcname · 18/01/2020 15:25

Esther - like. A bit unusual but a classic.
Marianne - not keen. Quite a fluffy name imo.
Louisa- it's ok, no strong feelings either way.
Martha - Not a nice sounding name to me.
Ava - love.
Eva - prefer Ava.
Frances - dislike.
Juliet - my favourite on the list.
Lillian - quite like, like Lily too if shortened.
Amy - lovely, like a lot.
Alexandra - beautiful. Joint favourite.
Charlotte - don't like, sorry. A bit boring!

Oliver - like although would be tempted to sing "never before has a boy wanted more!" at every meal.
Aaron - dislike.
Isaac - love! I have one so biased.
Matthew - really like. A strong classic name.
Francis - dislike
Connor - dislike, least favourite on here.
Reuben - don't like at all.
Rory - ok.

BobbyBlueCat · 18/01/2020 15:29

Esther - Don't like how my tongue has to move in my mouth to pronounce it!

Marianne - I like it. Lot's of shortnened versions to choose from and very 'pretty'.

Louisa - Dated.

Martha - I like it. Solid name.

Ava - Okay.

Eva - Okay.

Frances - Frumpy, Laura Ashley mum.

Juliet - Okay.

Lillian - Dreadful.

Amy - Easy, short and snappy, timeless.

Alexandra (would use Ally as nn) - Okay.

Charlotte ( this is our fave but I like to use nicknames but I hate chat or lottie. Don't mind Charley but wouldn't go mad for it. Any other suggestions?) - Dotty, Charlie, Tee, Arlo, Shar, Harlo - lot's of other nicknames. I like it.

Oliver - I like it.

Aaron - Harsh sounding. He'll always have to go first if things are done by name (hard if he ends up being shy).

Isaac - Okay.

Matthew - I like it. Solid.

Francis - Dreadful as a girl name. Even worse as a boy name.

Connor - Chav.

Reuben - Meh.

Rory - Don't like it. Let's hope he doesn't have a Jonathan Ross speech impediment!

Graciebutterfly · 18/01/2020 15:33

Love Rueben but maybe because that's my ds name lol with Finnley

And yes I know they are spelt the way the book says.

Love Erin too but your choice Ava

HeronLanyon · 18/01/2020 15:38

Girls

Esther - love it. Old family name for me and have always loved it.

Marianne - like it a lot.

Louisa - pretty - have known it to be confused with Louise.

Martha - nice but a bit overused possibly.

Ava - thin

Eva - thin and gets mixed with Ava a lot.

Frances - love this. Strong and pretty. Have always thought the Male/female ending s should be the other way around !

Juliet - Like this with stress on either first or last syllable. Less fond of jules which may be inevitable.

Lillian - nice. Rather an ‘old’ name? Due more use I think.

Amy - nickname short for something else ???

Alexandra (would use Ally as nn) A bit boring I think but like ally.

Charlotte ( this is our fave but I like to use nicknames but I hate chat or lottie. Don't mind Charley but wouldn't go mad for it. Any other suggestions?) Like it. Also like char. Not lottie.

Boys

Oliver - boring only through overuse. Like it nonetheless

Aaron - thin slightly weak. Pronunciation can cause confusion.

Isaac - like it

Matthew lovely.

Francis Like for a girl. Less fond for boy (ending seems feminine to me!)

Connor - in absence of Irish links no.

Reuben - not fond. Think of a sandwich.

Rory - but if a mouth twister.

Good luck op and congrats.

Appledeapp · 18/01/2020 15:44

I like Juliet also Charlotte and Alexandra. Not sure about the boys names. I like Frances because it's different I have never met any

Appledeapp · 18/01/2020 15:46

*Francis (sorry spelled it wrong in my post)

toffeeghirlinatwirl · 18/01/2020 16:14

Like all of the girls names except Eva/Ava just because they're overused.
All of the boys names are fairly common in my area with exception to Matthew, Francis and Rory (and they're names that stand the test of time too).

Jj2431 · 18/01/2020 18:06

Thanks a lot everyone x

finallychangedmyusername · 18/01/2020 21:33

Love love love Louisa, Juliet, Charlotte. And Amy, Marianne, Esther and Alexandra are also excellent. For boys, Isaac, Aaron, Matthew, Reuben, Rory are superb. Also like Oliver too but the popularity puts me off.
