Boys Name final decision time

I'm in early labour with DS no 2 and cannot decide.

We have a Seth but don't want another bible name as our immediate family is beginning to resemble a Sunday School class Grin.
We are both Scottish though not living there at the moment but will return in a year or so.

Liam
Ruaridh
Jack

Please help us decide! Jack is probably my least favourite as it's very popular and we have a very common surname.

If Jack is your least favourite I’d take it off the list (I love it btw)

I vote Liam out of the remaining two names

Ikeameatballs · 18/01/2020 04:20

I vote Liam

Astronica · 18/01/2020 05:54

I like Ruaridh and Jack best but Liam is fine as well. I'm just a bit put off Liam because it has been very popular where I live. Ruaridh is my first choice.

Ginbauble · 18/01/2020 05:56

Liam

BelfastNonBlonde · 18/01/2020 05:56

Ruaidhri

Or Liam

MrsBertBibby · 18/01/2020 07:01

Hope all goes well!

Ruaridh. Jack is too nicknamed. Liam is too Oasis.

BlueWonder · 18/01/2020 07:05

Ruaridh is lovely. Hoping it may be time fo congratulations very soon!

misspiggy19 · 18/01/2020 07:06

Liam

pegasus02 · 18/01/2020 07:19

Definitely Ruaridh. People might misspell it a lot (as they have done on this thread...) but it doesn't really matter

Liam

Hepsibar · 18/01/2020 07:24

Please can you advise how you pronounce the first one? As I think I am going to prefer it ... oh yes just googled, like this one the best by far.

diddlediddle · 18/01/2020 08:08

Liam goes best with Seth. Hope birth goes well x

florascotia2 · 18/01/2020 08:59

OP Best wishes! If you're returning to Scotland and if you choose Ruairidh you might like to consider using the technically correct spelling, according to Gaelic spelling rules. That has the letter 'i' twice, on either side of the second letter 'r': Ruairidh.

Entirely up to you, of course. Some people, even in Scotland, choose to ignore those rules. But learning Gaelic is becoming more popular...

SunbeamsOverhead · 18/01/2020 09:04

Ruaidhri

FairfaxAikman · 18/01/2020 09:06

Ruaridh without a doubt

bridgetreilly · 18/01/2020 10:15

Ruaridh.

Greyhound22 · 18/01/2020 10:21

Liam

MikeUniformMike · 18/01/2020 12:23

Liam - nice but got overused
Ruaridh - spelling and pronunciation issues. Rory is easier.
Jack - overused. John is nicer.

thrre · 18/01/2020 12:27

I prefer Ruaridh. For me the other names have had their day.

Dyra · 18/01/2020 14:20

Liam all the way if you're really not keen on Jack. He'll never have to hear his name mangled in pronunciation or patiently spell it out every time.

StopMegxit · 18/01/2020 14:24

Liam is lovely.

zen1 · 18/01/2020 14:27

Ruaridh . It goes well with Seth. Where I live, Jack and Liam were very popular about 15-20 years ago.

FREEM · 18/01/2020 14:29

Ruaridh

DramaAlpaca · 18/01/2020 14:51

Ruairidh, spelled properly, see florascotia2's post above. Or Liam. I love both.
