Ada or Theodora/Thea

Times are getting hard, my original shortlist for dd due in April has been torn up and I am all at sea..It's actually getting a bit stressful🤔
I think Ada is probably very overdone, but we both like it.
Theodora shortened to Thea is another contender, although DP likes it less.
What do people think?
PlantPotting · 11/01/2020 17:42
I love Ada x
bridgetreilly · 11/01/2020 17:51
Ada. I love it and I also think Thea is more popular than Ada.
AnnaSparks · 11/01/2020 17:57
Thea
CassandrasCastle · 11/01/2020 18:00
I just looked on a baby name graph thing and Ada shows a really steep increase Thea even more popular. I don't mean that in a snobby way, I guess I just don't want her to be one of 3/4 in a class
Daddylonglegs1965 · 11/01/2020 18:05
Don’t like any sorry
CassandrasCastle · 11/01/2020 18:06
Hahaha thanks 🙈
latheritup · 11/01/2020 18:14
Ada
Charlottejbt · 11/01/2020 18:20
Theodora is beautiful.
MyCatScaresDogs · 11/01/2020 18:34
Thea!
CassandrasCastle · 11/01/2020 20:37
I honestly had no idea that Thea was so popular...I quite like the idea of Teddy being another nickname - although have a nephew called Ted 🤔
PlantPotting · 11/01/2020 20:52
OP she’s highly unlikely to be one of three in a class remember to look at the actual percentage on the Y axis of the graph!!
CassandrasCastle · 11/01/2020 20:56
Good point! It just showed such a steep rise though
DramaAlpaca · 11/01/2020 23:08
Ada, by a long way.
I can't stand Thea, it's so weak sounding.
SoftSheen · 11/01/2020 23:10
How about Adeline?
Tillygetsit · 11/01/2020 23:18
Ada is great. I've a niece called Thea. One of 4 born at the same time. She's 7 months.
Fantail · 12/01/2020 04:48
It could show a steep rise going from 10 nationally to 70 nationally. The chance of her being 1 of 3 would be tiny.
Girls in general are given a wider range of names than boys too.
daisypond · 12/01/2020 08:34
I prefer Thea. I find Ada too bland.
SundayMorningSun · 12/01/2020 08:45
You can also check how many there are in your area if that really bothers you. Even the most popular names are only like 1% now.
I'd go for Ada - you like it better, less popular, less fussy than Theodora, Thea can end up as Fea.
TheoneandObi · 12/01/2020 08:46
Think Ada has zoomed in popularity because she was such a great character in Peaky Blinders

Go down to "explore girls names by region" and it gives you a map.
MikeUniformMike · 12/01/2020 12:13
Ada is awful and Theodora isn't very nice. Thea is a bit meh because Theo is so popular
Poorolddaddypig · 12/01/2020 12:17
Theodora is amazing
CassandrasCastle · 12/01/2020 12:20
I think I'm going towards Ada - at least it'll get the shortlist reduced somewhat..
Urkiddingright · 12/01/2020 12:33
Ada.
NoSauce · 12/01/2020 12:37
Ada is horrible. Ugly and frumpy. Thea is nice.
