I'm expecting baby boy and considering the name Konstantin

What would you call in short though?

I went to school with a Constantin (he was Greek). We always called him by his full name.

emmathedilemma · 11/01/2020 09:28

I hope your surname isn't Noble!!

TatianaLarina · 11/01/2020 10:01

Great name OP.

Yesyesitsme · 11/01/2020 10:07

It makes me think of Konstantin in Killing Eve Smile

Do you have some kind of French/Romanian/other link or is it just a name you like? How would you pronounce it?

Yesyesitsme · 11/01/2020 10:10

Sorry - spelt with a C in French & Romanian Blush

I guess Russian then?

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 11/01/2020 11:56

Love it, and if I was shortening I would 100% go Kostya.

Robstersgirl · 11/01/2020 13:56

My Romanian neighbour had this name his shortened was Kostin.

Grin Grin

I'm in a minority here, I don't like it, I think people won't be able to say it (think teachers etc). But if you like it, you go for it. I wouldn't know how to shorten it though

sadonfriday · 11/01/2020 14:07

It makes me think of Konstantin korovin, who painted beautiful pictures mainly of Paris. Love the name

Lavenderblues · 11/01/2020 17:20

Very popular in Germany

Genvonklinkerhoffen · 11/01/2020 17:21

Are you Russian?

Lavenderblues · 11/01/2020 17:21

Not sure whether most English speakers would pronounce it correctly!!

marie2020 · 11/01/2020 21:17

It's a European name and we have Slavic origin that's why we really like it.

It seems that English people can pronounce it well but we wonder whether we can find a good short version of it or keep it the way it is.

Thank you for all the suggestions Smile

Love it. Also reminds me of Konstantin from Killing Eve (not a bad thing!) Grin

Chienloup · 11/01/2020 22:22

The Konstantin I know is shortened to Tino - he's German. Lovely name.

AlpacaGoodnight · 11/01/2020 22:49

Love it!
