What does everyone think of the name Elm for a boy? I love it but is it a bit too hippy? Thanks!

I really like it... But for a girl

Ericveis · 09/01/2020 20:38

Not unless you are giving birth to a sapling rather than a baby..

peachypetite · 09/01/2020 20:39

😂

Mamabear88 · 09/01/2020 20:39

It sounds try hard to me.

BubblesBuddy · 09/01/2020 20:39

Yes. My mum has a friend whose grandchildren are Willow and Cedar. They could all form a wood if they played together.

Seriously it’s a bit tree huggy for me and I’d think of Dutch Elm Disease all the time.

slipperywhensparticus · 09/01/2020 20:41

I like it for a boy 😁

Franklymydearidontgiveadam · 09/01/2020 20:41

Elm....

I automatically think nightmare....

Sorry.

Queenoftheashes · 09/01/2020 20:41

Dunelm?

TheYearOfTheDog · 09/01/2020 20:42

I'm just hearing 'wych' before it.

TheYearOfTheDog · 09/01/2020 20:43

It's a nice name for a house or a road

SallyLovesCheese · 09/01/2020 20:44

Short for Elmer?

AdaColeman · 09/01/2020 20:46

Slippery Elm?

donquixotedelamancha · 09/01/2020 20:47

Let's put a pin in the fact that you want to call your child after a tree - could you not choose a tree which doesn't have a disease named after it?

What about Groot?

puds11 · 09/01/2020 20:54

Jesus no! Sounds very twatty. I think the only boy tree name is Ash. Is Rowan a boys name as well as a girls?

Tree names generally just mean you’re a dick and trying to hard to be ‘out there’.

Cantdecidewhere · 09/01/2020 20:56

It reminds me of the alphabet... Elm...n...o....p.. ?

CoffeeBeansGalore · 09/01/2020 21:00

Oakley is a tree based boys name if you want to go that way. Rowan can be boy or girl, Woody is more American but has been used in the UK. Personally - Elm, no. As above the connotation with Dutch Elm Disease.

Nonnymum · 09/01/2020 21:05

Yes puds11 Rowan is traditionally a boys name eg. Rowan Atkinson, and the ex Arch Bishop OF Canterbury Rowan Williams. Rowena is the female version though Rowen seems to becoming more popular for think girls.
I cant think of any other tree names for boys.

BestIsWest · 09/01/2020 21:11

Linden is also a tree name as are Rowan and Hazel and Olive.

ooooohbetty · 09/01/2020 22:29

No. Just no. Not for a boy or a girl. Don't do that to them.

cybergran · 09/01/2020 22:51

woody

percheron67 · 09/01/2020 22:55

Dear God. Poor child. Presumably, you are not from the Netherlands!?

PsychosonicCindy · 09/01/2020 22:58
