  1. Lara
  2. Juno
  3. Astrid

Lara is beautiful and you don't hear it often. Juno makes me think of the film, which puts me off a bit. Astrid sounds a bit harsh to me.

Astrid - love
Juno - like
Lara - neither like nor dislike

Poorolddaddypig · 07/01/2020 15:59

Juno and Astrid joint number 1 - amazing names.
Lara isn’t on the same level at all imo.

I really liked Astrid but a work colleague named her DD this and at her first doc appt the tannoy called out for 'Asteroid'

This was 6years ago and I still think of it when I hear the name.

So I'm going

  1. Lara
  2. Astrid
  3. Juno

I don't see why one particularly stupid GP's receptionist would put you off a name you loved? I like Astrid and it has the benefit of being relatively unusual here.

But in order of preference I'd put them:

  1. Lara
  2. Astrid

3 Juno - not fond of this, just don't like the sound really. Seems a bit cartoon-y somehow (or am I thinking of Pluto?).

SadieContrary · 07/01/2020 16:17

@Pemba it was never a name choice for me anyway but it did stick in my mind!

Lara - nice. Really like it.
Astrid - really like but might be more popular than you think. Wouldn't use with an E middle name or surname
Juno - D'you know?

Love the name Lara! So that's number one for me and Astrid second. Not keen on Juno I'm afraid- just makes me think of that film!

Lara is one of my favourite names! Astrid is lovely and unusual. Less keen on Juno personally and I just think of the film.

Cbeebiesrehab · 07/01/2020 19:42

Juno-Love.
Lara- bit too much like Laura to me but I don’t dislike it.
Astrid-seems too harsh for a baby and I naturally give babies nicknames (they often seem too tiny for their grown up names to me) and can’t think of a nice one for Astrid.

WonderTree · 07/01/2020 19:46

Love them all (sorry, not helpful).

Notso · 07/01/2020 19:57

Juno- I like it but it doesn't work in lots of accents.
My old neighbours had a dog called Juno and hearing it screeched in a cockney accent a hundred times a day had put me off it somewhat.
I also have a nephew with a strong northern accent and one of his best friends is Juno or Juwnerrrr.

Lara- I don't like. It seems popular on MN but it's a bit bland for me.

Astrid- I really don't like. It's such a harsh sounding name and the sound reminds me of Aphids.
