Can I please have some suggestions of boys names that could be shortened to Rory? Halo

I'm having trouble thinking of literally any!

That's because it's a name and not short for anything! There are various ways to spell it though.

CloudyVanilla · 28/12/2019 19:53

Yes sorry I was just googling and realised it's not really short for anything! Blush

That has reassured me that I can just use it if we like it, thank you Halo

I was at school with a Rory whose full name was Roderick.

PineappleDanish · 28/12/2019 19:58

Roddy or Rod would be the more common shortening for Roderick.

Rory is just Rory.

juneybean · 28/12/2019 20:00

Ruaidhrígh Grin

bobstersmum · 28/12/2019 20:01

Ruari

PineappleDanish · 28/12/2019 20:06

But these are just longer ways of spelling essentially the same name.

OP was looking for something like Rorystonleigh or Fredrorylike which could be shortened to Rory.

CloudyVanilla · 28/12/2019 20:09

Thanks for your suggestions :)

Unfortunately I am not a fan of Roderick at ALL but I've been comforted in the fact that Rory is a name in and of itself :D

It's not my top choice anyway but it is growing on me :)

I have a Rory and still love the name 10 years on!

Happiedays · 28/12/2019 20:11

Can just think of Rory in gilmore girls. So Lorelei... Or Victoria at a push, sorry they are both girls names. As suggested though, Rory is lovely for Roderick and I might steel that if we ever have another boy

ConfusedAndStressed95 · 28/12/2019 20:30

Theodore or Jethro could be shortened to Rory. It's not conventional but it's doable and would make phonetic sense.
