Love Asher for a boy, it's what my boy is going to be called!

UtuNorantiPralatongsThirdEye · 27/12/2019 00:04

Miriam and Theodore.

Don't name your son Asher, it seems to be one of the 'in' names for boys at the moment, they'll be ten in each class in 5 years time.

UtuNorantiPralatongsThirdEye · 27/12/2019 00:05

There'll* not they'll.

Your lists are too long.

Start using one name per day and see if you like it. Discard all the names that sound off.

Margot, Eve, Evangeline, Evelyn, Alice are all beautiful.
Love all your boys names except Aaron and Aubrey!

confusedyoungthing · 28/12/2019 13:59

☆Esther - I used to hate this, it used to scream old lady to me, but I'm really growing to like it recently. I like Aster too which seems like a modern/trendy alternative.
☆Irina - Not a fan of this sorry, it feels very outdated.
☆Marianne - a bit plain and not much appeal. I quite like Marina though.
☆Margot - I never quite understood the popularity of this. It just looks like maggot to me and sounds very outdated.
☆Eve - I like this. It's sweet, simple, no fuss.
☆Helena - Boring...I can't imagine this on a baby.
☆Louisa - This is sweet!
☆Miriam - Plain, outdated, etc.
☆Ava - I like Ava! Yes she's very trendy at the moment, but come on, she is lovely!
☆Evangeline - I've never liked this, idk why. I like Evelyn, Everly, Evie etc, but not Evangeline.
☆Frances - Not my style but has some appeal.
☆Grace - sweet and simple.
☆Evelyn - Really starting to like Evelyn atm!
☆Elaine - Another outdated one, which is strange because I like Lainey and Alayna.
☆Niamh - I like this and luckily it's becoming mainstream enough for people to know how to pronounce it
☆Shona - not for me, idk why I've never liked Shona/Shauna etc
☆Leona - The name isn't bad but I have negative associations with it, so it puts me off.
☆Orlaith - I think the Orla spelling is prettier, but then it does also look like the word oral, so I can't decide,
☆Lillian - Pretty and sweet
☆Marlena - outdated
☆Caroline - I would usually say outdated but since I knew a young-ish Caroline, it has grown on me a bit
☆Amy - a little plain/boring
☆Faith - very pretty and not too overused these days
☆Alma - very very very outdated
☆Mariella - not my style, too fussy
☆Alice - beautiful, traditional, can't go wrong

☆Lewis - This is okay, pretty standard and a bit boring
☆Oliver - Handsome. Popular but traditional
☆Aaron - I like Aaron. I always picture Aaron as being the typical 'hot guy' for some reason
☆Isaac - very handsome
☆Matthew - plain, but has appeal
☆Miles - I love Miles! Strong and sustainable
☆Theodore - Handsome and sweet, although a little too current for my liking
☆Conor - Again I have bad associations with a Conor
☆Lorcan - not my style
☆Aubrey - much prefer this as a girls name
☆Robert - boring, older guy name
☆Asher - Handsome! Popular but, that's because he's wonderful!

OceanSunFish · 28/12/2019 14:06

My favourites are Esther, Miriam, Marianne, Isaac and Conor.

Least favourites are Evangaline, Shona, Marlena, Alma, Lorcan, Aubrey and Asher.

littlealexhorne · 28/12/2019 19:17

I love Orlaith, I think its such a gorgeous spelling but given I've no Irish in me I'm not sure I'd use it. I also think she'd have to spend her whole life telling people how to spell and pronounce it.

I like Asher and Lewis, and I like Theo but perhaps not Theodore.
Aubrey is more of a girls name to me.
