Between two girls names

Charlotte or Georgiana?

I don't really like "Charlie" which puts me off a little, I think we would use Lottie but I know in time other nicknames would develop.

Georgiana I think would go to Georgie/ Gi.

Middle name would be a family name (short, four letter).

Charlotte

sunshineandshowers21 · 26/12/2019 13:33

i love both. my sister is called charlotte though so i couldn’t use it as a first name but it’s my daughter’s middle name. we were torn between georgiana and emmeline and went with emmeline. i’m really hoping the next is a girl so i can finally use georgiana! if you don’t like the nickname charlie though i’d probably go with georgiana. every charlotte i know, including my sister, people tend to shorten to charlie, or char.

OneKeyAtATime · 26/12/2019 13:34

Between Charlotte and Georgina I would have picked Georgina.
Same with Georgia.
No massively keen on Georgiana so would pick Charlotte.

VerbenaGirl · 26/12/2019 13:35

I’d go for Lottie pure and simple.

PlantPotting · 26/12/2019 15:15

Love Charlotte - a beautiful classic name

IckleBear · 26/12/2019 16:28

Charlotte! Or just choose Lottie! Cute

Emelene · 26/12/2019 16:42

Charlotte! Georgiana might get the "George-jay-na" pronunciation used in The Duchess film.

Yellow1c · 26/12/2019 16:44

I love Gi as a nickname :) so cute!

daisypond · 26/12/2019 16:46

Georgiana. I really don’t like Charlotte, though.

andannabegins · 26/12/2019 16:47

I have a Charlotte. She has always been a lottie and there has never been another nickname. In fact it would be weird to hear her called Charlotte!

lisag1969 · 26/12/2019 16:50

Charlotte 100%. X

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 26/12/2019 16:54

I know an intensely annoying spoilt madam called Charlotte so that would ruin it for me.

But Georgiana is a bit of a mouthful and a bit up itself.

17caterpillars1mouse · 26/12/2019 19:21

Georgiana Charlotte?

Both are lovely. I prefer Charley to Lottie though so will go with Georgiana

Palavah · 26/12/2019 19:25

Georgiana might get the "George-jay-na" pronunciation used in The Duchess film.

This is how it's supposed to be pronounced (or something like 'george-eeyunuh')

  • rather than 'george-ee-ah-na'.
PsychosonicCindy · 26/12/2019 19:26

Charlotte/Lottie for sure!

olivehater · 26/12/2019 19:30

I have Charlotte for a middle name. I was put of using it as a first I hate the name Lottie ( too cutesy) . I think Charlie is nice though, kind of sassy. Not sure about Georgiana. Too many syllables. It’s just Georgina with an unnecessary flourish.

So Charlotte out of those two.

Spied · 26/12/2019 19:32

Charlotte definitely

Astronica · 27/12/2019 01:31

Both are really lovely names. If Charlotte is your first choice then just don't accept people shortening it to Charlie. 'No it's Charlotte or Lottie.' I don't think people would automatically use Charlie much if you use Charlotte or Lottie and you just correct them if they do.

DramaAlpaca · 27/12/2019 01:39

Charlotte, and I'd insist on the diminutive Lottie.

Georgiana is beautiful but you'll get pronunciation issues. If you'd said Georgina I'd have said choose that, because I love it. But if you'd said Georgia I'd have said definitely go for Charlotte.

cds5163 · 27/12/2019 05:47

There's something sweet about georgiana to me.

wearesailingacrossthesea · 27/12/2019 09:20

Georgiana is a beautiful name.... however its quite a long and tricky name. And may be difficult for a child (spelling and saying) such a long name.

MikeUniformMike · 27/12/2019 13:41

Georgiana is too complicated. Is it Geor-jayna, Georgie-Ah-na, Georgie-Anna, George-Anna, George-ahna?

Go for Georgia or Georgina.

Not keen on Charlie though I like it for a boy.
Lottie is nice, and Charl (pr. Sharl) is more likely.

Charlotte is nicer than Georgieana.

Modernhistorybuff · 27/12/2019 14:24

Georgiana.
