I have one! I love it and so does he. No terrible jokes yet. Everyone can spell it and pronounce it but the only one in his school. Only gets shortened to Ivo which I don’t mind either.

It's fine. Ivan the Terrible is a given.

Pronounced Eevan or Eyevan?

Its one of those names I think is slightly strange for a newborn but they'd grow into it. I love the nickname Ivo if you decided to go for that!

By the way, Ivo is not a nickname! It’s a totally different name with an entirely different meaning and most people will know this. So I really wouldn’t nickname him Ivo.

Oh okay. My next door neighbour has an Ivan whose nickname is Ivo hence why I suggested it. I think it's lovely.

I say Ivo as Eevo, and Ivan can be said as Yvahn.
Yvan (E-van) is a breton name, if you like that pronunciation, or it's welsh version Ifan (E-van).

I had Ivor on my list of boys names, but DH vetoed it due to the joke potential.

Good strong name, although I lean more to Ivor than Ivan.

Both names were on my shortlist but DH vetoed them (pulls sulky face.)
