Just wondering what unusual ‘only met one’ names people had come across in their lives?

Zeus. He's awesome.

Emilienne is surely just a misspelling of Emmeline...

A boy named Earl with the surname GREY.

FoamingAtTheUterus · 24/12/2019 02:47

managedmis I shit you not .......this was about 20 years ago at DDS nursery.........I distinctly recall doing a backwards moonwalk ala MJ to check the name on the pegs........looking back it may have been spelt Brockley but was definitely pronounced Broccoli. And Barley was Barley.

Poor sods.

A midwife I know was chatting at a Christmas party last week and telling us all about the most unusual names she's come across. She mentioned La-a. I so badly wanted to say "come on you didn't actually see one yourself did you, you've just heard of it somewhere and it makes a great pretend story". I didn't though, because she's nice and I didn't want to make her (or me Grin) look silly in front of everyone for challenging it!

polkadotpixie · 24/12/2019 03:20

My friend's Dad is called Gaylord

I also know someone who called their daughter Belle, their surname is Ball

My midwife said she delivered a L-A (Ladasha), not sure if I believe her or not though!

Oh forgot about Schwebb. Worked with a guy called that, he was an arsehole. He had a terrible surname too, it was a body part.

mulutole · 24/12/2019 03:35

I know four Embers.

Ds was neatly called Maverick but we called him something different and I've only heard it once before (my Grandfather.)

Dh is the only one of his name that I know of. I'd never heard it before and not since.

There's only one other person with my name spelt the way it is in the world I know of.

We get VERY funny looks at passport control. Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/12/2019 03:47

I knew a Rockette as well. Named for a bassist.

MiniGuinness · 24/12/2019 03:50

I have a Hero, it is obviously the coolest name 😂 but it really isn’t very unusual, sadly.
Also I saw Barley and Broccoli on another thread, wasn’t it just misheard Bali and Brockley? (Seeing as place names are so popular)
