Just wondering what unusual ‘only met one’ names people had come across in their lives?

Some of these are so ridiculously untrue.

wonkytonkwoman · 24/12/2019 07:16

Isola.

Blaise

Diggery

PineappleExpress · 24/12/2019 07:39

@sashh what is wrong with Jenna Taylor?

I met a guy named Swarley. I thought it was a joke because it's a fake name used on How I Met Your Mother, but he showed me his ID. He was a bit of a twat anyway, so I wouldn't be surprised if he'd changed it to that "for the lols"

Comfort
Naturelle
Precious

All girls. All gorgeous.
And an elderly Irish gentleman called Jarlath. Great name.

TheVanguardSix · 24/12/2019 07:45

Vaughan is another good one.

mummagirl · 24/12/2019 07:54

Vanguard
Jarlath is a very commonly known Irish name

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/12/2019 07:56

Tryphena is the most unusual name of someone I’ve met.

To the PP who wrote Fetus - I think the German name is pronounced like that but it’s Vitus

Roselilly36 · 24/12/2019 07:59

Chilli-boy
Zero-boy
Rainbow-girl

isabellerossignol · 24/12/2019 08:07

My friends mum was a teacher and she had a child called Shaun Lamb

I don't understand what's strange about that one?

Thinking of names where I've only ever met one person called that, I have met a Melody and a Beulah and a Xanthe. They're not strange or made up names but I'd guess they're fairly unusual.

isabellerossignol · 24/12/2019 08:09

My mum swears she went to school with a Peter Peters

Was she brought up in N Ireland? I've met a few Davy Davisons and Billy Williamson and the like, so a Peter Peters wouldn't surprise me!

Serabi · 24/12/2019 08:10

Siblings called Mercedes, Saab and Bentley

AlfredoTheFrog · 24/12/2019 08:11

Not unusual names in themselves but I know identical twin girls, Marie and Maria.

Buscake · 24/12/2019 08:12

So many of these comments are really racist

CalleighDoodle · 24/12/2019 08:14

My mum knew an Alan Allan.

atankofskunks · 24/12/2019 08:16

Teacher here too. I have known a Blue (a girl) a Leaf (a boy) and many others that are somewhat bonkers. I agree that it's the dodgy spellings these days that make me lift an eyebrow. For example Emmerleigh (pronounced Emily) whose mum complained that teachers were pronouncing it wrong (staff were saying "emmeR" as it is spelt and were duly told it should be pronounced Emily). Bonkers!!!

doublebarrellednurse · 24/12/2019 08:17

I've seen lots of unusual names in my career including several Jesus's but Denim I've only met once.

Aragog · 24/12/2019 08:22

Only properly unusual one I've taught is Zillion.

He was a male prisoner and he was named that by his mum because 'he was more special that one in a million.'

hardyloveit · 24/12/2019 08:23

I know a little girl called Truly Scrumptious! Middle name Mary!

JKScot4 · 24/12/2019 08:24
