Love it and also love Anna/Ana as potential nn.

Moondancer73 · 20/12/2019 10:31

Very pretty. Great song called Anastasia too by my favourite rock star

TatianaLarina · 20/12/2019 19:32

Anastasia is not Russian it’s Greek. Just as Tatiana is Roman. They’re just popular in Russia. Greek pronunciation is different.

misspiggy19 · 20/12/2019 19:36

I'm outta love
Set me free
And let me out this misery

Carouselfish · 20/12/2019 19:36

I teach one. It's a nice name.

Isaididont · 20/12/2019 19:36

I really like it. I know one and she’s lovely who’s called Stasia for short.

Isaididont · 20/12/2019 19:37

My sentence structure was really weird there. But you know what I mean

Scarletoharaseyebrows · 20/12/2019 19:39

Love it. One of my favourite book series as a girl of the 80's too. It's fab. Use it, I beg you!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 20/12/2019 19:40

I love it.

which pronunciation will you go for?

My DD has a long name pronounced two ways-the English and the French. We gave her and she prefers the English pronunciation.

GlamGiraffe · 20/12/2019 19:41

Ws one of my choices. DH vetoed it as I would have been having a Russian monopoly if i had got away with that name too (myself and DC1 both have Russian names)

neversleepagain · 20/12/2019 19:41

It's a Greek name and pronounced
Ana-sta-sia. I like it but I personally wouldn't use it.

Makesmilingyourbesthobby · 20/12/2019 19:56

I like it op its not a Disney movie but it is a well know movie, given there are afew children called belle, jasmine, aurora and even a Tiana around my area It wouldn’t matter to me at all, could say the same about Matilda, Annie, Rio there are a lot of names that make me think of a particular movie depends if it matters to you op that people would often link her to the film, I have a name that a famous person had and I’m often linked to that person when being introduced doesn’t bother me in the slightest

TwigTheWonderKid · 20/12/2019 20:01

I love it! She must also have a sister called Tatjana. Can you tell I used to have a teenage obsession with the Romanovs...

Cotswoldmama · 20/12/2019 20:04

I think one of the ugly sisters in Cinderella is called Anastasia. I don't like it it's to much of a mouthful and will be shortened. I love the name Anna though.

TheClausSeason · 20/12/2019 20:07

Anastasia.Beaverhousen

I used to watch too much Will and Grace. It's a nice name though.

mathanxiety · 20/12/2019 20:19

Love it. There are three generations bearing this name in my Irish family, going back to the 1880s.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 20/12/2019 22:15

Don't like it - tbh honest i hate most really long girls names (Georgiana, Seraphina, Persephone etc.) To much of a mouthful and feels like trying too hard....

MikeUniformMike · 22/12/2019 14:27

Shades of grey.
Too long.

ThatNortherner · 22/12/2019 14:43

This was the name me and my ex wife were discussing if our baby was a girl.

I love the name so much, however when we were expecting everyone was warning us not to because it's the name of the main character in 50 shades of grey.

I wouldn't mind that but it's something to consider if you'd worry about that kinda thing.

Biancadelrioisback · 22/12/2019 14:52

One of my best friends was called Anastasia and she shortened it to Stacy or Stey.
Really suited her

millyyx · 22/12/2019 18:31

So pretty

BillyAndTheSillies · 22/12/2019 22:34

It was my number one girl choice and would have been Annie for short after DH's granny.

DH is half Greek Cypriot, and with our very long Greek surname it would have been a mouthful but it just sounded lovely.

I had two DS's so never used it.

confusedyoungthing · 26/12/2019 17:57

I like it, although I would prefer Annalise.
