I love it.

Means Fiery one.

I won't have anymore kids but maybe I could get a cat?

Quite a nice magical sounding name for a black cat. I think it’s awful for child though.
IMO it would only suit you if you were upper middle class and went to an independent school. Anything else you’re just being something you’re not.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/12/2019 00:08

Or maybe a ginger cat. Fire is orange and is obviously fiery

Cwenthryth · 17/12/2019 00:09

Seffie/Seph

PlasticPatty · 17/12/2019 00:10

I love it. Definitely get a cat. Get two.

raskolnikova · 17/12/2019 01:16

I've always liked the name, I think it's pretty. Though looking at the first PP maybe I'm not posh enough Sad.

Iliada · 17/12/2019 07:24

Yeah, because there are strict socio -economic rules about what people are allowed to name their baby.

NEW MUM: The name we wanted is Araminta Persephone.

REGISTRAR: Ok. Let’s see your bank statements and the pedigree of baby please. Lower than £800,000 and at least one great uncle who holds a title above Baronet, and I’m afraid you can be allocated a Lily-Mae or, if making more than £45,000 per year, you may even be entitled to an Ava Rose.

Iliada · 17/12/2019 07:28

By the way, Lily-Mae, Ava Rose and Seraphina are all lovely names in my opinion. Open to everyone. Obviously.

I think Sera is a lovely nickname as well. It means evening in Italian.

couchparsnip · 17/12/2019 07:33

Excellent name. Serafina (slightly different spelling) is one of the best characters in His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman (currently on the BBC). She's strong, powerful, a great leader of her people, and saves the day several times. A good character to share a name with.

daisypond · 17/12/2019 07:37

I like it, but it is a little flouncy. I don’t think it has particularly posh vibes at all. It’s too unusual to typecast it.

puds11 · 17/12/2019 07:39

The thought that you can’t name someone something because of class Grin come off it!

Seraphina is the name of a maternity clothing brand, just reminds me of that.

FartnissEverbeans · 17/12/2019 09:12

Seraphine is nice too

Thetimetravelerswife · 17/12/2019 19:23

Love it.

Lindy2 · 17/12/2019 19:26

I heard this name for the first time last week watching His Dark Materials. I quite like it.

Ohyesiam · 17/12/2019 19:26

But would her daemon be a swan or an eagle?

DramaAlpaca · 17/12/2019 22:45

Gorgeous name.

Enko · 18/12/2019 11:46

Was on our short list for dd3 but she didnt look like a Seraphina. I do love it through.

diddlediddle · 18/12/2019 13:32

I like it. I think it would be great on a lovely fat little guinea pig.

Seraphina the guinea pig Grin

reginafelangee · 18/12/2019 13:45

Too much

AngelGabs · 18/12/2019 23:22

I’ve got a Seraphina. We’re not upper class, and she doesn’t go to independent school.

We chose it because of the 13th century italian Blessed Serafina - because we’re both from a catholic background and wanted a name that reflected that. Also it means fiery and ardent and I hoped any daughter of mine would possess those qualities! (She does, in spades)

She gets Fina as a NN, HATES Sera, and while some people comment that it’s unusual/ haven’t heard it before, mostly we get complimented on it. It suits her, I’m glad we chose it.

—totally outed myself now—

Not a fan sadly :/ sounds a bit silly to me
