Sibling for Orlaith

name-changed!
We have an Orlaith and are expecting #2. Pretty sure it's a girl but have a boy's name sorted. I love Agnes, quite like Iris, but husband doesn't and won't suggest anything he likes!
It can't begin with M or end in a "la" sound. We're of Irish descent but live in Wales. Don't want anything too difficult to pronounce. Any ideas?

How is Orlaith pronounced ?

Minniemagoo · 15/12/2019 08:49

Aisling
Aideen
Roisin
Ciara (but might be too close to the la sound)

SiblingForOrlaith · 15/12/2019 09:15

Or-la with a rolled R.
Husband is Kieran so Ciara is a no!

Ps I have exact same scenario with Kieran and Ciara (called after) and no problems. That's very commonSmile

We also have an Órlaith! We have s boy too but other girls names we liked were Niamh or Maggie (Margaret). From this thread I think Erin is nice with it!

SiblingForOrlaith · 15/12/2019 10:38

Erin is lovely! Not keen on Saoirse/Fiadh/Aoife for pronunciation issues - Orlaith is proving tricky enough for some. After a name that sits well with Orlaith but doesn't have to be Irish - it was easier first time around!

We have a similar issue naming a baby to go with Niamh. Watching with interest!!

I have an Orla, her sister is Francesca and her next sister is likely to be Connie. I also liked Erin, maeve and Margot (although the Ms don’t help you!) congratulations!

Iseult/Isolde as she’s pan Celtic. (The welsh version Essylt isn’t as nice)

jfoyo26 · 17/12/2019 13:19

Fiona!
Can't remember the last time I meet a baby Fiona! It's nice, has a cute nickname (Fifi) and is one of those rare Irish names people can say and spell - without being in the super popular stratosphere like Ryan! It would be refreshing to hear this name on a baby.
