Hi everyone, what do you think of the name Indie-rose for first baby? Thanks!

Truthfully I think it sounds like a pets name rather than a child.
But my brother had a dog called Indy for years.
Or it makes me think of Indiana Jones.
If you like it, who cares!

DiploCat1 · 14/12/2019 19:40

I like it, but may be biased. My dd whibis due in a few weeks is going to be India Rose (not double barrelled though) and we already refer to her as Indie. :-)

Bendybop · 14/12/2019 19:42

Not keen prefer India or Indigo and Rose if must have middle name.

Rainallnight · 14/12/2019 19:42

I don’t like it, sorry. In general, I don’t like two random names stuck together and double-barrelled, and Indie sounds a bit made-up, so it’s a double whammy.

What is it about it that you like?

How about India Rose? Isla Rose?

georgialondon · 14/12/2019 19:43

I think hyphenated names are dreadful to be honest.

villainousbroodmare · 14/12/2019 19:45

Don't hyphenate it. Then it's fine. If you really must hyphenate it, you have to give the second part a capital letter.

FaFoutis · 14/12/2019 19:47

It's not very dignified. Your baby will grow up.

Kenworthington · 14/12/2019 19:48

It’s the name of my dd

Kenworthington · 14/12/2019 19:49

Well she’s India-rose. She’s always called indie. I wish I hadn’t hyphenated it tbh

BigFatBloomers · 14/12/2019 19:52

Whether you hyphenate or not, please capitalise the second name

Sammi91 · 14/12/2019 19:56

Ah sorry guys typo I did mean Indie-Rose. Thanks everyone so far, maybe without the hyphen would be easier. I’ve just liked hyphen names since loving the name Mary-Kate (Olsen) as a kid, but now thinking it could be annoying for her. I’m considering India I just think maybe it’s pointless if she’ll just get called Indie anyway

Really appreciate comments good and bad, it’s a big responsibility naming a human!

Hyphenated first names are awful.

Every girl has Rose as a middle name recently.

malfoylovespotter · 14/12/2019 20:04

It's awful sorry.

If you lose the double barrel it would be better.

I have a double barrelled first name but it's a proper name- not all are bad. It's just random names tagged together especially at the moment when every other kid has Rose, May/Mae etc

rottiemum88 · 14/12/2019 20:08

Indie is my dogs name... so to me I'd always think "dog" 🤷🏼‍♀️ India is better/more dignified, if she wants to use Indie as a nickname then she will

Batmanandrobin123 · 14/12/2019 20:27

I really like it. Mumsnet hates hyphenated names by the way. Indie-Rose is lovely name.

user1493494961 · 14/12/2019 21:08

India Rose Is quite elegant, Indie-Rose isn't.

Melrose86 · 14/12/2019 22:29

Love it. I think the 2 names go really nicely together and I like it hyphenated.I know an Indie and she is the loveliest little girl!xx

FamilyOfAliens · 14/12/2019 22:32

Indie is what posh people call private schools, isn’t it?

20viona · 14/12/2019 22:34

Hyphenated names are a pain in the arse and I'm not a fan. I like the name indie though.

Ohyesiam · 14/12/2019 22:35

Not hyphenated.
I never v poked the common shortening for dds name, but she chose to be called it about 8 years ago. She doesn’tb like the full version.
So it’s not necessarily a foregone conclusion that She will always be known as Indie.

Lolimax · 14/12/2019 22:36

I know one. She's a real sweetie and her name absolutely suits her.

shinynewapplesonachristmastree · 15/12/2019 00:11

I like it.

june2007 · 15/12/2019 00:16

When in doubt add Rose.

Astronica · 15/12/2019 01:14

While it sounds nice enough it's part of a big trend of hyphenating Rose or Mae with names so just feels over-done to me. Indie Rose without the hyphen is better, then you can still use both names when you like.

Just my style but I do prefer Indie as a nickname for something else such as Indigo or Ingrid.
