Help picking one of these please! :) I also quite like Violet but probably not as much as the above x

Violet and scarlet are very popular names for under 5s in my neighbourhood.

Rose/Rosie is lovely. Names with similar feel/theme - poppy, daisy, azalea, lily, Annie/Anna, Millie, Betsy/Bettie, Emily/Emma

Alternatives to Aria - Harper, Darya, Darcey, Isla, Alana

@Amelia732
You have good taste 😊
I have a Scarlett rose and have just given birth to Aria.
Am not keen on Chloe. I prefer violet.

Chloe

Ellmau · 15/12/2019 00:16

Chloe is very pretty.

JellyfishAndShells · 15/12/2019 00:24

I know an Aria - beautiful girl, very calm, so by association I think it is a lovely name !

safariboot · 15/12/2019 00:28

Not Scarlett because people will forever be misspelling it.

Rosie's nice, Violet's nice. Chloe I don't really like I'm not sure why. Aria's a name now is it?

Astronica · 15/12/2019 01:11

Rosie is my favourite. I also like Scarlett.

PlantPotting · 15/12/2019 06:11

Aria

Poorolddaddypig · 15/12/2019 09:40

Scarlett is amazing! Sassy and cool and cute. Scarlett O’Hara as a namesake. Beautiful sound. It’s just a great name!

Rosie is nice, but I think Rose is more dignified and beautiful, with Rosie as a sweet nickname.

Chloe is pretty but a little dull, and Aria is pretty but very ‘now’ and might seem dated shortly.

Poorolddaddypig · 15/12/2019 09:43

I also love violet.

I’d have a hard time choosing between Scarlett, violet and rose! They’re all beautiful

miahadalittlelamb · 15/12/2019 09:59

Rose/Rosa nn Rosie
Or Scarlett

passthetea · 15/12/2019 10:24

@Poorolddaddypig my Scarlett is named after Scarlett O'hara lol she's always complimented on her name. I only know one other so I don't think it's that popular.

CoodleMoodle · 15/12/2019 10:24

I have a Rosie, so that's my pick obviously! Mine is 5 and suits it perfectly, as did the adult Rosie I knew (fell in love with the name after meeting her). We've said she can be Rose when she's older but she says she'll never stop being Rosie Wink

I like the others too, and out of those I'd choose Scarlett.

Peachbubble · 15/12/2019 14:56

Chloe or Rosie

user1480880826 · 15/12/2019 14:57

Aria is extremely popular and only because of game of thrones. I would avoid it like the plague.

ilovemykids5 · 15/12/2019 18:59

@user1480880826

I have just named my baby Aria and have never seen a episode of GoT. I just heard the name and liked it as it was new and unusual.
Also her on GoT is spelt and pronounced different Arya

Amelia732 · 15/12/2019 19:07

Thanks everyone so much! So far looks like Rosie is the most popular but as Rose/Rosa. I don’t know though I think Rosie is cute! I still love Scarlett the only thing that worries me is no decent nicknames? Chloe I might take off the list just because it’s “older” than the others, Aria i still think is pretty I’m surprised people think of it as chavy or won’t age well

OP I think you need to think beyond pretty and cute. She's only going to be a little girl for a few years, what if she doesn't want to be "cute" as an adult? There's no reason why you can put Rose or Rosa on the birth certificate but call her Rosie yourself. It just gives her more choice in future.

Hayls17 · 15/12/2019 19:32

Scarlett always gets slated on here but I love it as my DD is called Scarlett! The other 3 names are all pretty too, we considered Chloe for DD2.

StanleyWalkersThirdWife · 15/12/2019 21:58

My order preference would be Scarlett, Aria, Rosie, Chloe :)

I know Aria is seen as being a recent name but it's a saints name which I think is lovely. Also the game of thrones books (with the character arya) was written in 1991 and published in 1996 so 🤷‍♀️

Jazmeena · 15/12/2019 22:51

Aria is a lovely name

passthetea · 16/12/2019 00:14

@Amelia732 my daughters name doesn't get shortened. But I know a Scarlett who's nickname is lettie.

bridgetreilly · 16/12/2019 00:39

Scarlett could be Lettie or Carlie.

Personally I prefer the Scarlet spelling.
