Miriam Ruby?

What do you think of Miriam Ruby for a girl?

Also open to other middle name suggestions! We like classic UK names that are less popular (probably because both of us have the number one name from the years we were born, so were Sarah A, Tom B at school).

I like it ☺️

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 11/12/2019 19:05

I like it too

miahadalittlelamb · 11/12/2019 19:07

Miriam is ok.
It’s just ok.

What about Julia? Antonia? As examples of underused classics?

hannahfaith · 11/12/2019 19:26

I like it flows nicely

Togepi · 11/12/2019 20:48

Thanks all Grin

gorgeous!

bridgetreilly · 11/12/2019 22:22

I really like Miriam, but Ruby doesn't seem to fit somehow.

How about:

Miriam Juliet
Miriam Charlotte
Miriam Ivy
Miriam Betty
Miriam Verity

Tillygetsit · 11/12/2019 22:41

I think it's very pretty.

MrsNoMopp · 11/12/2019 22:42

Miriam is a really nice name and underused. Miriam Ruby is OK but not sure it flows all that well; it sounds a bit R-heavy.

Miriam Charlotte
Miriam Lucy
Miriam Ivy
Miriam Juliette
Miriam Elsie
Miriam Faye

I think it's quite lovely. I like both names separately and I like the combination very much. I love that Miriam has a strong and classic quality, quite recognisable but also not often used and Ruby adds a touch of fun to a fairly serious first name.

VanyaHargreeves · 12/12/2019 01:43

If I didn't have a strong dislike for an actual person named Miriam I'd love it Grin

mathanxiety · 12/12/2019 03:40

Really nice. I agree with Astronomica about the combination.

mathanxiety · 12/12/2019 03:41

Astronica !! What did my phone just do to your name?

Mimishimi · 12/12/2019 04:01

I am a Miriam. I would not recommend it at all.

MrsBertBibby · 12/12/2019 05:49

Love Miriam.

Don't like Ruby at all, though.

CatteStreet · 12/12/2019 06:04

Miriam's beautiful, really lovely. Very international, too. Like PPs, though, I don't think Ruby 'goes'. Love a PP's suggestion of Miriam Lucy. Or a one-syllable middle name such as Faith, Joy or Jane?

BlueGingerale · 12/12/2019 06:13

It’s a very Jewish name.

Miriam is my sisters name and her whole life people consistently asked her about her name. As a child she did not like the name.

Ruby is also a Jewish name - though less so these days. But any Jew will assume Miriam Ruby is Jewish.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 12/12/2019 06:14

I love Miriam. I don’t like Ruby with it though.

What about:

Miriam Ruth
Miriam Alice
Miriam Fern
Miriam Rose
Miriam Eliza
Miriam Iris

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 12/12/2019 06:14

Horrible

ConstanceL · 12/12/2019 06:21

How about Miranda instead? It's a bit nicer sounding than Miriam.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 12/12/2019 07:09

I disagree that Miranda is nicer sounding than Miriam.

hannahfaith · 12/12/2019 15:38

I have an aunt who's name was Miriam and she always went by Mimi (mim-ee) which would be cute on a little girl.
Miriam has this vintage sound to it that's balanced beautifully with the middle name being Ruby

midsomermurderess · 12/12/2019 15:47

It think it's lovely. Miriam in particular is beautiful.

Spanneroo · 12/12/2019 16:56

My DD1 is Miriam and goes by Miri. I still adore her name. Ruby I am less keen on. It just doesn't flow quite right. Other names on our list you might like - Tabitha, Nina, Juliet, Emmeline.
