I am reading a book where the main character has this name and I think it is lovely. I am not pregnant but do others like it?

It's awful. It comes over like someone trying to be different. Vivienne is nice enough.

turkeyontheplate · 11/12/2019 09:37

No, it's dreadful.

Witchofzog · 11/12/2019 09:38

Oh Sad I thought it was beautiful. The book is set in America so perhaps it is a more American name

I think it’s a lot less lovely than Vivienne. Is it just the weird spelling you like? Surely it’s still pronounced Vivienne? I may be an old fuddy duddy but I don’t see the appeal in spelling names in a weird way for no apparent reason.

HellonHeels · 11/12/2019 09:40

Are you serious? If you are - no I don't.

MrsNoMopp · 11/12/2019 09:48

I don't like it, sorry.

lottiegarbanzo · 11/12/2019 09:51

Vivienne is a lovely name and could be shortened to Vivi.

Vivi Ann looks like someone heard someone else saying Vivienne and didn't bother to check how it's spelt.

Like Chester Draws.

Amys136 · 11/12/2019 09:51

I love Vivienne but not the weird spelling

Witchofzog · 11/12/2019 09:52

Chester Draws Grin I have seen this on Facebook before

People will just think you didn't understand how to spell Vivienne. Don't do it.

Witchofzog · 11/12/2019 10:02

I think it's unanimous then Smile

It may also have been an attempt to Americanise Vivienne, or to 'de-Frenchify' it, perhaps in the 'freedom fries' era.

Flymetothestars · 11/12/2019 10:25

Vivienne is nice

So is Anne

Doyoumind · 11/12/2019 10:26

Terrible.

ShinyNewNameTimeAgain · 11/12/2019 11:59

Stop being so reasonable and argue about it. You’re supposed to spurn all advice and tell us we’re all wrong. I don’t approve of such a sensible and calm reaction.

Witchofzog · 11/12/2019 17:00

@ShinyNewNameTimeAgain Grin Bastards the lot of you. I am naming all my reborn dolls plus every cat n dog I ever have Vivi Ann, even if they are boys. So there. Oh and to drip feed my great Nana who died when she fell into custard was also called Vivi Ann and who the hell is anyone to say they don't like her name.? Bastards. I am flouncing now.

Vivienne is lovely.

hannahfaith · 11/12/2019 17:19

American speaking
Vivi Ann does seem a little try hard and I agree it would likely be mushed together and pronounced Vivian (tends to me the more American spelling of Vivienne)

StealthPolarBear · 11/12/2019 17:33

My name is Vivi Ann what is wrong with it? I hate you all apart from the op.

nunnun · 11/12/2019 17:48

My best friend's called Vivi, surname Section.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 11/12/2019 17:51

Nna Iviv is way better.

reginafelangee · 11/12/2019 17:52

Vivienne is beautiful. Vivian is also nice.

Vivi Ann - awful sorry. Just spell it properly and then you will have a lovely name.

ScreamingValenta · 11/12/2019 17:56

Agree with pps - Vivienne or Vivian (though the latter is more of a male name in the UK). Vivi could be used as a nickname, maybe?

User17735356 · 15/12/2019 19:27

No

ElvenMoonwings · 15/12/2019 21:45

I don't like it, sorry, but then I don't like Vivienne or Vivian, either. Neither meaning nor sound appeal to me.

But - if you like both I don't see why not Vivi Ann. Different though it is, it still means the same thing and the strong meaning gives it dignity.
