DC2 - Alfie or Kayla

TuleYide · 10/12/2019 15:16

DC2 due in March - team yellow!

DS is Freddie. Does Alfie go?

If DC2 is a girl, I really like Kayla. But my name is Kaylee and DP says that’s like calling her after me which he says is vain.

Thoughts?

It’s too close for me.

How about Layla?

Freddie and Alfie are fine!

Flymetothestars · 10/12/2019 15:37

Alfie is lovely for a boy.

Kayla. No! Agree with Pp — how about Layla? Delilah? Cora? Or something like Roxanna?

Flymetothestars · 10/12/2019 15:37

Aurora? Aurelia ?

Spied · 10/12/2019 15:40

Alfie 'goes with' Freddie, yes imo.
I wouldn't use Kayla. Especially not if I was Kaylee.
Layla, as pp suggested is lovely.

EugeniaGrace · 10/12/2019 15:54

I wouldn’t use Alfie personally with Freddie because they can both be short for Alfred (and I like full names) but this is me being picky. Albie is different though.

I agree that Kayla is too similar to Kaylee. How about:
Ayla
Isla
Layla
Eilish
Keira
Cara
Caitlyn
Kyla

Thetimetravelerswife · 10/12/2019 16:18

Sorry don’t like either

TuleYide · 10/12/2019 16:42

I don’t like Layla, not sure why. Roxanna is lovely!

I didn’t know Alfie and Freddie were the same name. Albie feels more ‘old man’ to me.

Names are so hard.

Alfie's fine, dislike Kayla.

CookPassBabtridge · 10/12/2019 18:12

Alfie sounds great with freddie. Just don't use the full name which most people don't anyway.

Phoebesgift · 10/12/2019 18:12

Alfie is too common and I dislike shortened names as full names. Kayla? Just no. Awful. Sorry.

neonglow · 10/12/2019 18:15

Yes Kayla is far too close to Kaylee so I’d avoid.

I think the both being possible nicknames for Alfred would put me off pairing Alfie with Freddie, but I bet a lot of people wouldn’t even notice. What about Harry or Archie?

Mimilamore · 10/12/2019 19:50

I work in a primary school and every class has several Alfie's so they tend to get surname initial tacked on. One class has 5!
Not keen on Kayla, lots of those too, spelled in many ways...

NoSauce · 10/12/2019 20:29

Sorry Alfie is naff. Babyish and will date badly. You can’t have Kayla with your name.

Amber
Zoe
Amara
Lyra

James
Oliver
Harry
Rory

Thefaceofboe · 10/12/2019 21:43

Alfie and Freddie are both nicknames for Alfred so I personally wouldn’t. Don’t like Kayla, especially if you’re Kaylee.

MrsNoMopp · 10/12/2019 23:29

Alternatives to Kayla...

Scarlett
Leah
Olivia
Stella
Isla
Sonia
Freya

IVflytrap · 11/12/2019 00:25

Michaela instead of Kayla? Bit less obvious connection to your name, and you could still keep Kayla as a nickname.

Other suggestions: Maisie, Talia, Dahlia, Saskia, Molly, Georgie, Josie, Jay, Lacey, Joni, Clara, Paige, Naomi, Keelin, Jamie, Marnie, May, Coralie, Amy, Rosie

Alfie is fine with Freddie. It's not exactly the same name as Freddie generally comes from Frederick, although it could also be short for Alfred.

As others have mentioned - Archie or Albie as alternatives, if you're worried?

NightsOfCabiria · 11/12/2019 00:35

My friend’s seven year old son is one of four Alfies in his class. Ir’s just too common now.

NightsOfCabiria · 11/12/2019 00:38

How about Katrina instead of Kayla?
