Looking for a name for our baby boy due in the new year and have just come across the name Jonas. I'm really loving it but am looking for some opinions? Other name suggestions welcome...am looking for a name that isn't very common but isn't absurdly 'out there'! Thanks in advance! x

It's lovely.

HundredYearOldMan · 10/12/2019 22:04

I prefer Balonz

VenusClapTrap · 10/12/2019 22:34

I don’t like it. But I’m not a fan of overtly religious names.

TheReluctantCountess · 10/12/2019 22:35

I like it. I also like Jonah.

Tillygetsit · 10/12/2019 22:53

I like it a lot.

DramaAlpaca · 10/12/2019 23:26

I love it.

mondler · 10/12/2019 23:53

We almost used it as a middle name but chose Jonah instead as it went better with the first name we chose. It's a lovely name x

Whoops75 · 10/12/2019 23:55

Jonah is nice
Jonas doesn’t look right to me.

Chickenitalia · 10/12/2019 23:55

We have a jonas in the family. It’s a great name, easy to spell and say. No one calls him joe. Go for it!

happycamper11 · 11/12/2019 06:01

I've a friend who has a Jonas. They are a really cool, slightly hippieish family and I think the name is fab. Can't say I've ever thought of the jonas brothers and it's not something she's found an issue

Astronica · 11/12/2019 06:38

I don't mind it. I much prefer it over similar names like Jonah and Josiah.
Other ideas:
Rufus
Magnus
Fergus
Joash
Jonathan
Joseph

Thanks very much for the thoughts so far...it seems liked/loved by the majority! :-)

Astronica, I really like Rufus, but someone recently made a comment about it being a dog's name!? x

I love Jonas. I knew a very handsome Danish one years ago! It actually comes up quite a bit in the Yorkshire branch of my family tree so perhaps was locally popular back in the day.

WoodliceInSunderland · 11/12/2019 19:35

I like Jonas, it's a bit different but not in a weird way. Go for it!
