Be prepared for lots of box jokes with a pandora

Katfood · 09/12/2019 13:50

I like Brice and Roman.

Rupert and especially Rory, are very difficult to pronounce for people who struggle with their Rs

For a girl I like Pandora and Lydia. I dislike Margot.

BuffaloCauliflower · 09/12/2019 13:54

My DN is Pandora/Panda and I love it, so I’m biased. Kids can find a way to take the piss out of any name. Margot is lovely but getting very popular. Astrid is very cool. I like Juniper but think she’d have to be a particular sort of person to carry it off. Don’t like Wren at all.

Of your boys names Rory and Hugo are the only ones I like.

tinkywinky2 · 09/12/2019 13:57

I like Brice but would have bryson with Bryce for short and that spelling.
Love roman and Lydia. Not keen on the others.

tinkywinky2 · 09/12/2019 13:58

And not sure if Blaise is suppose to be blaze? But I prefer Blake.

Leopardprintboots · 09/12/2019 13:58

Boy:
Rory - Love (favourite)
Brice (my fave so far) - not heard before will have a think and come back
Rupert - LOVE (favourite)
Hugo - Love
Roman - it’s an ok name (if slightly down market) but I’d personally avoid past years fastest rising boys name. Lots of lovely names to pick from I’d probably avoid this name as most likely to date.
Dimitri - hate
Blaise - never heard before. Not keen

Girls:
Pandora (nickname will be Panda, think this is so cute) - it’s ok
Margot - Love (favourite)
Juniper - love (favourite)
Wren - Love (favourite - can also be a boys name if you wanted)
Aerith - huh? No
Ebony - no
Lydia - Love
Astrid - don’t like but think this name is v popular on MN (but rare in real life)

Leopardprintboots · 09/12/2019 13:59

Oh yes agree with you @tinkywinky2 - much prefer Blake - SO much nicer - one of my favourites

daisypond · 09/12/2019 14:01

Brice looks odd. Is it right? Do you mean Bruce? Or Bryce? It’s a big mishmash of names. Do you have Russian roots?
Pandora just makes me think of the naff and overpriced jewellery brand nowadays.

owlofathena · 09/12/2019 14:01

I like Brice and Blaise. I really wanted Blaise for this baby but we chose another name instead.

Leopardprintboots · 09/12/2019 14:08
  • last not past in my post above
17caterpillars1mouse · 09/12/2019 14:08

Rory - lovely name, my favourite from your list
Brice (my fave so far) - I think it's awful sorry
Rupert - nice name
Hugo - I really like it
Roman - not a fan at all
Dimitri - it's OK just not my style
Blaise - dislike it. I don't think I'd want to be a 40 year old Blaise

Pandora (nickname will be Panda, think this is so cute) - I like Grace t, also like nn Pandy and she always has Dora to fall back on as an adult

Margot - not a fan

Juniper - not a fan

Wren - simple and pretty

Aerith - it looks pretty but I have no idea how to pronounce it

Ebony - dislike, seems very teenage parents to me

Lydia - beautiful name. My favourite from your girls list
Astrid - nice but I think it's starting to have a bit of a moment as I keep coming across baby Astrid's

erised · 09/12/2019 14:09

Aerith is pronounced like Eh-rith.

Batmanandrobin123 · 09/12/2019 14:36

I love all your girls names, especially Wren and Juniper. How about Aeryn? I think that's gorgeous and nicer than Aerith. Margot is very elegant. I find Lydia a bit dull in comparison to the others and an Ebony would have to have dark skin or hair or both IMO.
Rory is my DS so obviously my fave of your boys, Hugo is nice but quite posh and Rupert is fine. I'm not overly keen on the others.
Brice could grow on me, prefer Blake.
Blaise is a bit too superhero sounding.

BarleyG · 09/12/2019 14:36

I’m sorry I can’t see Margot without reading it as ‘maggot’
Lydia is my favourite for a girl

marmitecheesetoast · 09/12/2019 14:54

Of your list I really like Rory for a boy, Rupert is also cute and currently quite underused I think?

I’m afraid I really don’t like Pandora as it just makes me think of the jewellery, however if you love it OP you should go with it. Of hour girls names I much prefer Margot, Lydia or Juniper

TatianaLarina · 09/12/2019 15:33

I like Rory, Rupert, Hugo, Roman and Dimitri.

Brice is grim.

Of the girls I like Pandora and Margot.

TatianaLarina · 09/12/2019 15:35

FWIW Blaise is a very old French name as in Blaise Pascal.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 09/12/2019 15:39

Rory - Lovely name, overused though.
Brice (my fave so far) - Bryce is the only spelling I know.
Rupert - Cute, reminds me of the bear.
Hugo - Again becoming overused.
Roman - Absolutely love, my daughters name is Romani.
Dimitri - Awful.
Blaise - Heard it twice lately for little girls.

Girls:
Pandora (nickname will be Panda, think this is so cute) - Cute, hate predetermined nicknames though.
Margot - Great name.
Juniper - The best so far.
Wren -Its okay.
Aerith - Wouldn’t know how to pronounce it.
Ebony - Again ok.
Lydia - Reminds me of old ladies.
Astrid - Funky, Different.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 09/12/2019 15:44

Wow I love all you girl names. Beautiful. If I had to choose I’d go with Astrid but I absolutely love them all
Out of your boy names I like Hugo Rory and Roman. Not so keen on the others.

florascotia2 · 09/12/2019 16:17

Brice is a very old name, like Blaise. Probably originally from Celtic Gaul, then Latinized.

Aplogies if everyone already knows this, but Blaise was a popular saint in medieval times. Originally a doctor, he had a special rapport with animals - like St Francis - and so would be seen today as very eco-friendly.

I like both.

TatianaLarina · 09/12/2019 16:49

Brice was also a saint if you care about that kind of thing. Still don’t like it.

Thetimetravelerswife · 09/12/2019 16:59

Rupert and Hugo
Pandora and Margot are my faves

daisypond · 09/12/2019 16:59

Interesting. I’ve never heard of Brice. Goes off to google...

MrsBertBibby · 09/12/2019 18:43

Rory and Astrid are very nice indeed. I'mm afraid I really dislike every other name on both lists.

Stayingstrong24 · 10/12/2019 09:21

Boy:
Rory - I think it's cute but might not age too well.
Brice - Not keen, sorry.
Rupert - I can only think of Rupert The Bear.
Hugo - Quite like this.
Roman - Probably my favourite on the list.
Dimitri - Not sure.
Blaise

Girls:
Pandora - I quite like. Never met one.
Margot - Not over struck on this.
Juniper - I love this.
Wren - I quite like. This was my nn as a child!
Aerith - Pretty but may have confusion with pronunciation.
Ebony - Always liked this.
Lydia - My favourite on your list. It never seems to age.
Astrid - I quite like.
