Autumnal/Winter Girls Names

Hiiii,

We are expecting our first baby next year :) and although we are not finding out the sex we are convinced we are having a little girl! Also, we are sorted for boys names (I think).

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for Girls names that are wintery/autumnal? Something different.

Thanks in advance :)

Have you thought of the obvious

Winter/ autumn?

How about
Aria?

What’s your boys name out of interest?

JumpingFrogs · 08/12/2019 21:09

There's the actress, January Jones...

HettyStThomas · 08/12/2019 21:13

Eira, it's a welsh name and means snow

motortroll · 08/12/2019 21:14

My girls middle name is winter. She's a December baby. We all love it! Would have had it as a first name but would have been odd with my other 2s names which are uncommon traditional sources she has another lovely name that suits them as sisters.

Winter is a beautiful name Imo obviously lol

Marcipex · 08/12/2019 21:17

I know an Autumn, I think it’s very pretty.

Midwinter
Aurora ( more likely to see in winter)
Holly
Rowan
Ivy
Ursula
Ummm....Carol?

@ThinkPink71

Edison is an excellent name

I personally prefer the spelling winter - I think there’s been a thread on that name recently and the name was really popular - I love it

I still think you could use Autumn- especially as she’s left but it wouldn’t matter if she hadn’t

Ihavethefinalsleigh · 08/12/2019 21:53

Noelle
Holly
Mary
Ivy
Eve
Joy
Gabrielle

Leopardprintboots · 08/12/2019 22:00

Yes love the name Holly and it’s very underused

Krazynights34 · 08/12/2019 22:03

Noelle
Grace

I really like the names that are already on the list, but if you're looking for some "less obvious" names a few I've found are:
Hollis (holly tree)
Ivo (yew tree)
Ember (like embers in a fire)
Lumi (snow in Finnish)
Ceyln (holly in Welsh)
Hestia (goddess of the hearth in Greek mythology)
Camellia (a type of winter flower)
Eirlys (snowdrop flower in Welsh, another winter flower)

I know these aren't all super traditional, but just some thoughts I had! Best of luck on the search!

Just thought of this while driving home listening to Christmas music

For a little girl you could call her Meredith and her nickname could be Merry
I've always loved Meredith and Merry would be a natural nickname for her

ikeakia · 10/12/2019 13:00

I found the combined name of Autumn and Tara on a baby name website once and thought it was pretty.

Autara.

Winterwine · 10/12/2019 17:29

Autumn is one of the best names. I also love winter spelt the obvious way.

Iliada · 10/12/2019 17:38

It depends how different you want to go.
A more normal name would be something like Noelia. More hippy would be Solstice. More unusual would be December.

daisypond · 10/12/2019 17:44

How is Aria linked to autumn or winter?
Bianca
Blanche
Tiffany relates to the Epiphany, for 6 Jan.

Thefaceofboe · 10/12/2019 21:44

Winter with nn Winnie Grin

StCharlotte · 10/12/2019 22:29

I know a little girl born in December called Summer.

Mulledwineinajug · 11/12/2019 10:52

Holly in Welsh is Celyn rather than Ceyln. (Kell-inn)

Eirlys means Snowdrop (Eyr-liss is the nearest pn I can come up with)

Iona (Yonna, not eye-oh-na) is from ionawr which is January in Welsh.

DontCallMeDaisy · 11/12/2019 11:36

Robyn / Robin
Neve
Natasha
Gabrielle
Wren
January

All very wintery rather than autumnal
