Hi, I'm looking for opinions!

If you heard the name Georgie would you think it would be a boy or girls name?

Thank you in advance!

Girls

Leopardprintboots · 06/12/2019 18:56

Georgie is clearly a girl

Fairenuff · 06/12/2019 19:00

It can be either.

lvra · 06/12/2019 19:02

I know of a boy called Georgie, when I googled the name it said it originally started as a boy name but can be either. I would hate to call my boy Georgie and for everyone to think it was a girls name 🙄

Girl.

joffreyscoffees · 06/12/2019 19:07

I know a boy Georgie but I've always wondered why they didn't just call him George and give him the nickname Georgie if that's what they wanted.. it is definitely more girly.

hauntedvagina · 06/12/2019 19:09

The only boy Georgie I can think of this is in It Confused

1066vegan · 06/12/2019 19:26

I would assume Georgie was a girl.

I've known a couple of Georginas shortened to Georgie. I've known loads of Georges and they've all just been known as George.

Just remembered. Beryl Bainbridge wrote a book called Master Georgie so maybe it used to be more of a boy's name.

Sunshinelollipops1 · 06/12/2019 19:29

I think if it was their name, rather then a nickname, I would say girl.

I have a boy called George. He’s little and cute and gets called Georgie. Not sure the nickname will be used when’s he’s a teenager.

Namechanger23455 · 06/12/2019 19:31

My friends boy is George, we called him Georgie for a nickname. However as other posts have said I’m not sure as a teen Georgie would work? I’d imagine he would just revert to George tbh

daisypond · 06/12/2019 19:32

As a nickname, either. But I can’t imagine using it as a first proper name for either.

lvra · 06/12/2019 19:33

Yes definitely makes sense to have the name of George and then maybe Georgie as a nickname! Thank you for your opinions 🙂

My George was Georgie Boy , or Georgie Porgie , he’s definitely a boy

MikeUniformMike · 06/12/2019 19:58

Boy or girl. Usually a nn for George or Georgina. Stevie for Stephanie or Stephen/Steven has a similar vibe..

Fairenuff · 06/12/2019 20:19

Danny/Danni, Andy/Andie, Robin/Robyn - there are loads of them really.

There's a male Georgie in Rod Stewart's Killing of Georgie.

WhoKnewBeefStew · 06/12/2019 20:20

Girls. My niece is called Georgie and I think it's a lovely name

Leopardprintboots · 06/12/2019 20:25

Yeah a boy called George with nickname Georgie is really cool. He can drop it if he doesn’t like the nickname when older

I love the name George

Omashu · 06/12/2019 20:31

I’d think boy initially but I wouldn’t flinch if I heard it on a girl!

Grufallosfriends · 06/12/2019 20:46

Boy. Nickname for George.

BikeRunSki · 06/12/2019 20:51

I’d assume it was an diminutive of Georgina, Georgia or George, and wouldn’t assumed b or g from the nickname.

I know 2 x Georgina and 1 x George know as Georgie.

Cbeebiesrehab · 06/12/2019 21:05

If I saw it written down I would presume girl.

Shouted out in a park-could be either.

RandDandC · 06/12/2019 22:15

Girl, I’ve only known one Georgie and it was a girl. Her full name I believe is Georgiana but I only ever heard her go by Georgie

DramaAlpaca · 06/12/2019 22:17

Girl

hannahfaith · 09/12/2019 15:46

For Georgie if you're afraid of it coming across as a girls name I'd call him George and use Georgie as a nn

Thefaceofboe · 10/12/2019 21:46

I’m Georgina nn Georgie Grin
