Not keen on India. Love Helena. I wanted that for my daughter but it got a no from DH :(

Spied · 06/12/2019 14:31

Helena.
Have you links with india?
I only ask because whenever I hear someone named after a place I always wonder if they've actually been to said country/place.

LarkDescending · 06/12/2019 14:49

Helena is gorgeous.

jollybobs89 · 06/12/2019 14:50

Not keen on Helena

I like India my little girl is called indie which is similar haha so maybe I'm biased

StrayWoman · 06/12/2019 14:50

Both lovely.

Leopardprintboots · 06/12/2019 14:53

I love India so much

Helena sounds a bit mumsy to me. Makes me think of a 40+ year old with grey hair (much like me but that’s not my name though)

Leopardprintboots · 06/12/2019 14:53

India has a more modern feel to it. Many of your daughters friends mums will be called Helen so it might make her feel her name is very uncool

PilatesPeach · 06/12/2019 14:54

Love Helena, really do not like India sounds too hippy to me

Sharonthetotallyinsane · 06/12/2019 14:57

Helena. The name India makes me do an internal eye roll for some reason.

Mrsjayy · 06/12/2019 14:57

I like Helena it was on my list 20odd years ago but we went with something else, I don't have much of an opinion on India it is ok .

Mrsjayy · 06/12/2019 15:00

Katie Hopkins was on tv slagging off place name names saying they were "Chavvy" yet her own dds name is India Confused

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 06/12/2019 15:04

Helena Smile beautiful & classical. It pairs well with other names as well so finding a middle name, if you’re having one, won’t be difficult.

daisypond · 06/12/2019 15:08

Helena. India is beyond awful.

Flippingnorah · 06/12/2019 15:17

I was awfully bullied by a girl named Helena so irrationally hate that name.

I used to call her HELLena.

For that reason only, I vote India.

Marylou2 · 06/12/2019 15:24

I like both. Not very helpful 😁

user1493494961 · 06/12/2019 15:55

Helena.

EleanorShellstrop100 · 06/12/2019 16:32

I like both but Helena is more classy and has adorable nickname Nell 🥰

SweetAsSpice · 06/12/2019 16:34

Helena every time.

I went to school with an India. Who was not from India. It wasn’t a fun time for her.

Indie?

Leopardprintboots · 06/12/2019 16:41

India is more mainstream now though. The name India will have been outside the top 1000 when we were at school. It’s top 200 now so much more mainstream without being too common.

Sorry I really don’t like Helena - I’d actually prefer Helen although I don’t really like that either. I remember a boy at my school being called Phillip in the 1980s. A nice name but every other Philip was in their 50s at the time so it just sounded a bit absurd and uncool to me and I think the same will be applicable to any children called Helena, Sarah or Kate etc in 2019. It’ll be their friends’ mums name

neversleepagain · 06/12/2019 16:50

I prefer Indigo to India.

Thinkingsticks · 06/12/2019 17:00

I like India, and nickname Indy x

DramaAlpaca · 06/12/2019 17:03

I like Helena. India is a fantastic country, but not nice as a name.

MillyMollie · 06/12/2019 17:21

I live Helen.
All the Helens I know are lovely.

I don't like India unless you have a great affinity to India as a country.

TatianaLarina · 06/12/2019 17:32

Helena

Peachbubble · 06/12/2019 17:48

India
