We were looking for a name not too common and We both really like Ada-Rose but am starting to think it may jump in popularity next year, seems to be a few more Ada's being born. Do people think it is becoming more popular? Any similar names that aren't as popular? Tia

Ada is OK, Rose is really nice as a first name. The hyphen spoils it. She’ll end up being called Ada.
Anna?
Or if you want to effectively have two names in one, how about...

Genuinely every baby girl but one that i know born recently has rose as either a first or second name. Ada has jumped up the popularity charts. I'm afraid you're right that Ada rose will date terribly. Loads of other lovely names that other posters will surely suggest!

Im due in may and was considering Ada for a girl, so yeah it is popular.

I think Adalyn is nice but unusual, means you can use ada for short?

Its completely subjective really and depends what you feel fits better :) it’s difficult with names because everyone has their own opinions on certain names so if Ada-rose is what you like then why not? :) x

I dislike it a lot, and it's very common round these parts. Rose is such a boring middle name/random hyphened on nothing name. It's the Anne of this decade.

I don't like Ada and I don't like hyphens. Rose as a middle name is overused.

Ada-Rose sounds a bit like Lederhosen or Aiderose.

Ivy-Rose is prettier. I don't much care for Ivy though.

Get rid of the hyphen - it’s a just asking for the second name to get dropped by everyone. She’ll be just Ada by the time she’s ten, if not before. It’s happened to everyone I know with hyphenated names and you can’t do much to stop it.

If you actually want people to use both names, stick them together and just call her Adarose. It looks so much nicer that way anyway. Also, that way she’ll be the only one in the class. And it’s no weirder than Roseanna, Annasophia, or Annabeth.

Ada Rose is fine as long as you get rid of the unnecessary hyphen.

I agree about hyphenated names- can’t stand them

Roxanne or
Roxanna?

I love Ada Rose though (no hyphen )

Rose is a bit of a filler middle name at the moment- it’s beautiful but as a result loads of people have used it! A bit like Louise in the 80s, or May a few years ago.

It’s much nicer (and more unusual) as a first name in its own right.

They are both lovely names. Not sure about both together as they'll not always get used. I know a lot of middle name roses, only one first name.

Ada was on our list.

I love Ada and I don't know any. Not keen on the hyphen though - I'd just go for Ada Rose.

It's a perfectly fine name without the hyphen but if you want something that will stand out, I would think again. I think Ada will become very popular due to people wanting an alternative to "Ava" etc.--also, that TV program. Either way, it looks/sounds really similar to a lot of other names that are common like Ava, Aria, Ayla, Anna. Rose is a very popular middle name as well.

I think every other girl has Rose as a middle name right now, especially with the hyphen.

Lovely without the hyphen. I wouldn’t use the hyphen on the BC but just call her Ada Rose at home, easily done as they are both short names.

Hyphenated names are often deemed chavy or quite working-class. Not the most PC thing but it’s definitely a thought out there.

Rose is also one of the most generic, over-used, rather basic names out there.

Ada is nice.

I like Ada but I think it's becoming quite popular. I wouldn't hyphenate the name but keep Rose as a separate middle name.

You might like Ida? It's similar sounding but less popular.

Every girl has Rose as a middle name now.

Hyphenated first names are awful.

exactly what mustard said. Every^ girl born in recent years seems have the ubiquitous Rose/Grace/May-Mai-Mae as a filler name. Hyphens are awful.
