Lochlann or Gabriel?
38

Humour me - I’m 38 weeks, think I’m in the v early stages of labour and sat at home bored. We are having a girl, who is almost definitely going to be Seren but could be Enid if she doesn’t look like Seren when she comes out. BUT if they’ve got the sex wrong, Lochlann or Gabriel? I know the usual spelling is Lachlan but we are Irish (well, DH and DD and future DD/S are, we live in Ireland but I’m English), we like it as our house overlooks a lough. But I’ve fallen in love with Gabriel now, and it is December! DD is also a Christmas baby with a Christmas name.

Don’t give your kid a wrongly-spelled name. It’s a shite thing to do to them.
shinysinkredemption · 02/12/2019 11:24
I prefer Gabriel but both nice; agree that an easier spelling is best but as you're in Ireland that might not apply
bigshiplittleboat · 02/12/2019 11:29
hi, spelling is not wrong, just less common than the Scottish one. We are in Ireland so wanted to use Irish spelling
Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 02/12/2019 11:31
I like Lachlan always shortened to Lachy round here
Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/12/2019 11:49
Gabriel
TatianaLarina · 02/12/2019 13:42
Gabriel Lochlann is fabulous.
Could the girl not be Gabrielle or one of the lovely Irish girls names?
Seren is welsh.
celtiethree · 02/12/2019 13:46

Gabriel
FreeButtonBee · 02/12/2019 22:15
Gabriel. All the nicknames are awesome too. Including when my almost 2yo demanded to be caked ‘G-man’ all the time 😄
WildCherryBlossom · 02/12/2019 22:17
Gabriel. I think it might be "the name that got away" for me.
mineallmine · 02/12/2019 22:17
Gabriel is lovely and perfect for a Christmas baby. Of your two girls names, I like Seren. I wouldn't be keen on Enid at all. I'm in Ireland too by the way.
Astronica · 02/12/2019 22:34
I much prefer Lochlann. I just can't seem to warm to Gabriel.
Tillygetsit · 02/12/2019 22:49
Gabriel is lovely. Enid?! Nooooo!
PotteryWheel · 02/12/2019 22:56
Lochlann.
Tobermory · 02/12/2019 22:59
Seren and Gabriel... fingers crossed that the sonogram gets got it wrong and it’s twins?! 😉
Lots of luck @bigshiplittleboat
HotSince82 · 02/12/2019 23:32
Gabriel. Name your son after an archangel.
Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/12/2019 23:37
I hAd a great Aunt by the name of Enid. I quite like it. It’s retro and quite fresh sounding nowadays. I’ve never been a fan of Seren. It’s seems very harsh and unfriendly to me.
123Dancewithme · 02/12/2019 23:39
Lochlann
FredMerc · 02/12/2019 23:39
Lochlan is a correct spelling, it means "warrior from the land of the Lochs"
