Sibling Names for Ruby

Hi everyone

Currently TTC and beginning to discuss names with my DH. We took quite a long time choosing/agreeing to our daughter Ruby’s name but I absolutely love it.

I’m finding it harder to fall in love with a name now but here’s some initial ideas:

Matilda
Florence
Sofia
Violet
Holly

Ivy

Arthur
Isaac
Dylan
Zachary (Zach)

Thoughts on these and any new suggestions welcome. And an idea of what’s popular IRL would also be helpful

I really like Florence (nn Flo, or Florrie?), Violet and Holly from your girls list, and Isaac and Zachary from your boys. would you also consider Gracie, Neeve or Ursa for girls, or Toby, Kieran or Oliver for a boy?

I do quite like Oliver! DH not keen on Isaac but it’s probably my favourite on there for boys, I don’t think he is likely to change his mind though!

I think Aidan is kind of similar to Isaac, do you like that? maybe dh would like it better?

Florence - not my taste, will be Flo, Florrie or Floss
Sofia - Soff-ee-a, Soff-ya or Soff-eye-a?
Violet - bit of a colour theme?
Holly - fine
Ivy - no

Isaac - ok
Dylan - just No
Zachary (Zach) - popular but nice. Prefer Zac.

Violet - definitely can't have with ruby (colours)

Matilda - Love this. It was always on my short list. Also love Tilly.
Florence - It's OK, but don't like nn Flo.
Sofia - Pretty. Another of y favourites. Prefer Sophia spelling though.
Violet - OK. Would shorten to Letty as dislike Vi.
Holly - You can't go wrong with Holly. I also like this spelling, although the Hollie version seems to be more popular at the moment.
Ivy - I like but wouldn't use personally.

Arthur - I like. I only know two little ones.
Isaac - I'm biased as this is my son's name.
Dylan - I quite like. Only know of one.
Zachary (Zach) - It's OK but very popular at my children's school.

I think Florence and violet both go well with ruby (why not two colours?)

I don’t like Arthur; it’s still an ugly old man name to me despite it being really popular. The rest of your boys’ names are nice, though. I think Isaac goes best with ruby.

I love Delilah! My only worry is it’s quite ‘different’ is this too much of a contrast with Ruby? I’m driving myself mad finding combinations that ‘go’ (then I over think and they don’t go anymore )

@SiobhanMummy I think you’re overthinking it. Ruby and Delilah would sound amazing together by the way. Delilah is now a top 100 name (albeit right at the bottom) so it’s really not a wacky choice and would go great with Ruby ❤️

Out of your list, I like Sofia the most, but I think I prefer the spelling Sophia. I also like Holly and Ivy as I think they go quite well with Ruby because of the two syllables.

As for the the boys’ names list, I like Arthur and Isaac comes as close second.

Imogen - I have less enthusiasm for both of these but feel they compliment Ruby well and kind of ‘fit’ I dunno aha.
