Husband loves it, I'm not sure!

Definitely e ending. The a ending is four vowels and too frilly.

I thought this was another one of those threads with people asking for experiences with a particular antidepressant. Interesting I'm not the only one who made that association.

If I met someone with this name I expect I would get used to it, but I don't think I'd choose to give it as a name.

BigFatBloomers · 12/11/2019 22:28

Serafina is the queen of the witches in His Dark Materials

Botanica · 13/11/2019 10:09

I personally like it, in both the /e and /a endings. It's currently on my shortlist for our little girl arriving January.

Makes me think of seraphim. Not keen but I like safe, classic names.

If you like it, use it, but you're not sure.
Check how it sounds with the surname - most people go through life as Firstname Surname.

Think about how it will get shortened, Sez is the obvious one. What if she calls herself Sera (Sarah) or something?

Consider if you'll still like the name in 10, 20, 30 years time etc.

Lovely!

I personally prefer Seraphina/Serafina. From a quick Google I think with a ph it has Hebrew origins and with an f it is Italian.

Astronica · 15/11/2019 03:30

I really like Seraphine and prefer it over Seraphina.

PeopleWhoRun · 15/11/2019 03:32

Reminds me of antidepressants also. Also makes me think of Persephone and I don't know why.

VenusClapTrap · 15/11/2019 07:30

Not keen. Too long, frilly and Disney Princess for me.

happycamper11 · 15/11/2019 07:33

I quite like it and didn't make the connection but I absolutely love seraphina- doesn't it mean something like fiery angel too?

happycamper11 · 15/11/2019 07:33

Sorry meant to say the connection with anti depressant.

BonBon411 · 15/11/2019 15:03

Love Serephina

BonBon411 · 15/11/2019 15:04

However you choose to spell it-it is lovely.

TatianaLarina · 15/11/2019 15:09

Flows much better with an a on the end.

bridgetreilly · 15/11/2019 17:00

From a quick Google I think with a ph it has Hebrew origins and with an f it is Italian.

It is a Hebrew name, from 'seraphim' meaning 'burning ones' - they are a kind of angel. The Italian (also Spanish, I think) transliteration of the Hebrew uses an 'f' where the English uses 'ph'. But they are the same name with the same origin.

OP, I prefer Serena to Seraphina and both to Seraphine.

ElvenMoonwings · 16/11/2019 20:28

I like it, although I prefer Seraphina and would prefer the spelling Seraphyn, if that wouldn't sound different. It appeals to me because I know a seraph is a high order of angel, and I think it sounds feminine and pretty also.
