Twins!

Shock to the system. 13 week scan and boom we have twins.

We won’t be finding out sexes however have been told they are identical therefore we need 2 boys and 2 girls names. Big sister is Niamh!

Boys names I’m leaning towards Thomas and Joseph (open to suggestions though)

Girls names we are a bit stuck. DD was always going to be Niamh or Orla. I’d quite like to use Orla, but have no idea what we would call the 2nd twin! Would it be a bit weird to have Niamh, Orla and then maybe something very English?

Thoughts please!

Congrats we have twins and same as you knew they were ID but not the sex. They would have been Elliot and Joseph if boys but are girls India and Matilda. I found it hard to find names that went together twin 2- Matilda was also called Zoe and Sophia for an hour each before we chose!

Thomas and Joseph are gorgeous boys names - absolute classics. Stick with them.

I think you'd be happier with three Irish names. Love Orla. What about Aoife(Eefa), Caitlin, Sorcha or Maeve? Good luck! What wonderful news. 😀

I do rather like Orla but agree that probably should come up with a third Irish name. Ciara? Maeve? Aoife? Caoimhe? Eilidh?

One other thought - is Orla the anglicised version of the name? Have a vague feeling I’ve seen Orlagh as well? If so then might be simpler to use Orlagh as your Niamh is Niamh and not Neve if you see what I mean.

@Mumoftwoyoungkids I’d be keen on Órla or Órlaith. Órla is an accepted version in Ireland, Neve on the other hand, my Irish grandmother would’ve beaten me with a stick for 😂😂

I like Erin but DB has already said it is their girls name (they aren’t expecting but would feel bad) we also like Aoife but with the fun we have had with pronunciation and spelling of Niamh we are reluctant to go too Gaelic.

@MissHenty Edie was on our list for Niamh so may be revisited. DH likes Tess or Phoebe 🤷🏻‍♀️

Seems as though Thomas and Joseph are a hit though!

Definitely stick with Thomas and Joseph.
They suit all ages and classes. Will never date and the nns Tom and Joe are fab strong names. What’s not to love

I also love Ciara, Bridget, Edie or Edith (or the more unusual Eda), Roisin, Clodagh. I don't think both necessarly need to be Irish, just kind of feel okay together eg Phoebe and Orla work perfectly well I think.

Thomas and Joseph are good. Thomas is a favourite of mine. Also William, Jasper, Henry, Felix.

I’m not too concerned how the names ‘go’ together as let’s face it they will spend most of their lives being individuals not the 3 Schafernaker girls. I just wanted to check no one would be a bit... about 2 very clearly Irish names and 1 not 😊

If it helps OP I don't think of Orla spelled that way as particularly Irish - I know 3 and only one of them has Irish heritage. Orla and Phoebe are lovely, as are Orla and Tess.
