Elliot as name for second

We have always struggled with finding boys names we like and it has been even harder to agree to one we both like.

Our first was a boy and it was quite easy as it was the only name we really liked, Oliver.

Now if the second one is a girl it will be easy, but if it's a boy we are stuck.

The only name we agree on and was also an option for our first son is Elliot. It's been growing on me, but I am not 100% sure. What is everyone's opinion on the name? I absolutely love the name Noah as well, but DH is refusing. Hmm

I forgot to add that if anyone had any other names you can think of that is fairly classic and international? I am open for suggestions.

I liked Elliot for our DS, he ended up Max but before we found out we were having DD this time, i would of put it on the table again, i like it, i think we liked Ellis as another boy option this time aswell x

I like Elliot, my friends little boy is one and it so suits him! I think it goes lovely with Oliver. Edward, Edmond, Michael or Hugo for some reason have the same vibe for me x

TipseyTorvey · 11/11/2019 20:45

Love it. But I'm biased as have one.

Didiplanthis · 11/11/2019 20:52

I love it. I used it as a middle name and really wish I'd used it as a first name instead.

Mallowmarshmallow · 11/11/2019 21:16

I am biased too as I also have one. We don't come across many and I really love his name.

loobylou10 · 11/11/2019 21:19

Mine was named after our first date when we saw ET! He's 23 now and I still love it. There weren't many around when we named him, seems more popular now.

I don't like Elliott. It says whiny to me.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/11/2019 00:52

I love Elliot. Probably because I know a very sweet and polite one.

DramaAlpaca · 12/11/2019 01:01

Elliot & fine & goes well with Oliver.

It's so much nicer than Noah, which is whiny. Elliot isn't whiny at all.

Sparklysunflowers · 12/11/2019 07:41

Elliot is nice but I'm not keen on Ell/Ellie. Especially with a brother Ollie.

How about
Dominic (Dom)
Quentin (Quinn)
Edward
Oscar

I don’t like Elliot but I know two sets of Oliver and Elliot brothers! They seem to go well together.

PreschoolYes · 12/11/2019 09:35

I prefer Elliot to Noah personally.

Elliott is quite similar to Oliver. 3 syllables, stress on first syllable, start with a vowel, L is the second sound, followed by letter i.

That may be a plus or a minus for you. On the down side it could seem as if you wanted to use Oliver again and settled for a close match. OTOH you may like the similarities.

Mother87 · 12/11/2019 11:41

Love the name Elliot... And Oliver - together

Disfordarkchocolate · 12/11/2019 11:45

I like Joseph; it means the Lord has added to the family. Elliot is lovely too.

Ineedanamechange79 · 12/11/2019 11:52

I love it but also biased. There are several spellings through which can be tricky as a lot of people spell it wrongly.

Sparklysunflowers · 12/11/2019 12:41

The more I say Elliot and Oliver or Ellie and Ollie, I find it too L strong. I think Noah and Ollie work much better together.

FizzyGreenWater · 12/11/2019 12:53

Really dislike this name, sorry. Yes, it does sound whiny!
It doesn't fit with Oliver - too many L sounds?

Shadow1234 · 12/11/2019 15:03

Have always loved the name Elliot.

EleanorShellstrop100 · 12/11/2019 15:09

Rory would be a good brother for Oliver. Or Isaac?

diddlediddle · 12/11/2019 15:16

Elliot is a fab name. Goes well with oliver. What's your hesitation?

Pippilangstrumpfi · 12/11/2019 16:11

I also find Oliver/Ollie too similar to Elliot/El/Ellie.

Hugsandpastries · 12/11/2019 17:47

I’ve got Elliott picked out if our second turns out to be a boy Smile
