Neve and Steve?

I like Neve for our second daughter's name, goes with first daughter's name and is nice and simple but a bit different. Boyfriend is called Steve and he is adamant they can't have rhyming names - says saying Neve and Steve out loud is ridiculous. Help! Is it that bad?

I would go for it because he will always be referred to as dad around Neve so wouldn't often be said together.

My MIL is called Neva... Would that be a compromise?

It is ridiculous, yes. Pick another name.

He says he doesn't like the name anyway 🙄 back to the bloody name drawing board.

Yes Niamh is Irish spelling. I have also seen it spelt Neave. Less obivios when written alongside Steve. Just tell him he will henceforth be known as Stephen.

On the same line what about Maeve? It gets an 'ay' sound rather than an 'ee'

I know a Steve with a daughter Neve and I’ve always wondered whether they considered this when choosing names!

I would avoid, I think you'd cringe every time you said their names together.

Steven and Niamh not so rhymy, so obviously rhyming anyway.

I have a relative called Steve whose daughter is called Niamh. Literally never ever occurred to me that they rhymed before now!

Neve would not rhyme with Steve though. Niamh would, but Neve is a completely different name.
