After 2 DS's I am finally getting over the shock of finding out I'm due a DD. I've had a very long list which I've narrowed down to more of a shortlist so would be grateful if you could let me know preferences out of following and/or any other suggestions??

Middle name likely to be Violet (as a family name) although still wavering on whether to have it as a first name. Just really don't like Vi as a nn...

Shortlist is:

Alice or Alys
Hannah
Lucy
Sadie
Nina
Ivy

I really like Sadie and Nina, considered them both for my own dd.

I do like Ivy but not Ivy Violet. The start of Violet is too similar to the sounds in Ivy plus both are plant/flower names.

Thread ended up quite a mixed bag... I still like Sadie but as pp mentioned I keep getting sexy Sadie in my head, which is a Beatles song.

So DP has just thrown another couple of names into the mix - Alicia and Vanessa. Thoughts?

From your list I only like Hannah. It's a lovely name.

123Dancewithme · 24/10/2019 21:54

Nina Violet, definitely!

MissHenty · 24/10/2019 22:16

I love Sadie

Not Alicia or Vanessa sorry

PetraRabbit · 24/10/2019 22:22

I actually prefer Alicia and Vanessa to your names, except Nina which is wonderful! Alicia Violet sounds good?

CravingCheese · 24/10/2019 23:00

Alice or Alys: very nice.
Hannah: absolutely beautiful.
Lucy: I don't like it but there's nothing 'wrong' with it.
Sadie: it's OK.
Nina: it's OK.
Ivy: not my cup of tea. And it might be a bit a bit too plant-y with Violet as a 2nd name. But yet again, there's nothing wrong with the name. I myself simply find it a bit poisonous if I'm being honest.

CravingCheese · 24/10/2019 23:03

Actually, no. Nina is more than just 'ok'. It really is a pretty name...

Vanessa: nice.
Alicia: I personally don't like the sh pronunciation tbh.

Bigoldwimp · 24/10/2019 23:24

Hannah. It’s just pretty and timeless but under used at the moment.

Sadie sounds a bit mean to me

I only know nice Lucy’s and alices so I like both names. Nina is elegant, best with a long surname

SmilingButClueless · 24/10/2019 23:29

How would you pronounce Alicia? I think it goes well with Violet but only if it’s pronounced a-lee-sha

Northernlurker · 25/10/2019 00:03

Your dh thinks Vanessa Violet is a go?

Wow. The pregnancy hormones have gone to his head!

Sadie Violet is nice
Lucy Violet also nice

What are your boys called

Astronica · 25/10/2019 00:07

Alice/Alys and Lucy are my strong favourites. And both would be lovely with Violet in the middle. I also like Violet for a first name. Hannah is good too, and I really like Ivy but not with Violet as a middle. I'm not keen on Sadie, Nina, Alicia or Vanessa.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 25/10/2019 18:23

I really really love Sadie
Also really like nina

bridgetreilly · 26/10/2019 13:14

Hannah Violet.

BelfastmummyL · 26/10/2019 15:11

I love violet as a first name. Lettie is a nicer nickname for this than Vi.
I like Alice Violet also don't think ivy goes well with violet at all.
What about Anna Violet (instead of HANNAH) or Annabel Violet?

Woodlandwitch · 26/10/2019 23:39

Love Nina

It’s on my list

Stephanie01 · 27/10/2019 02:36

Alice is beautiful. Love Lucy and Sadie too.

emilybrontescorsett · 27/10/2019 09:10

Alice.

chuffoff · 27/10/2019 12:36

Hadn't though of Lettie as a nickname for Violet, that's really sweet...

Vanessa and Alicia are awful imo.
Love Alice Violet.
I also like Sadie Violet.
