Yes, I know one.

Moominfan · 18/10/2019 22:47

Lovely

CalmFizz · 18/10/2019 22:47

Are you welsh/in wales? I think it’s perfectly fine when it’s pronounced properly.

KitchenDancefloor · 18/10/2019 22:48

The one I know is great so a nice association. A proper name, recognisable but not over popular 👍🏻

Pumpkincandle · 18/10/2019 22:57

Thanks for the feedback :)

We're both Welsh but live in England x

Love it. I know one and she is the kindest most lovely person you could hope to meet

Namechangenecessity · 18/10/2019 22:58

It’s lovely

NoSquirrels · 18/10/2019 23:02

I love it. Be prepared for a lot of ‘Mia’ confusion though, living outside Wales.

Wacawaca19 · 18/10/2019 23:10

Thomas the Tsbi Engine character.

PandasMum · 18/10/2019 23:48

Don’t love it but it’s ok

MikeUniformMike · 19/10/2019 07:58

Perfect. Old Welsh name. The Welsh version of the Irish Niamh.
It will get confused with Mia and people will say it the same as Near.

WaitrosePigeon · 19/10/2019 07:59

Sounds like someone a bit rough saying ‘I’m guna knee er’ in the face!’

BethanyGilbert · 19/10/2019 08:03

Is it neee ah or nyyyy ah?

MikeUniformMike · 19/10/2019 08:07

@BethanyGilbert
NEE-ah
The a is like the a in cat, hat etc not an -uh sound,

Enko · 19/10/2019 09:02

Beautiful

Pumpkincandle · 19/10/2019 11:34

I love Nia - I really wanted it but I had a Thea first so couldn’t use it for my second!

diddlediddle · 21/10/2019 08:12

I know a Niah. Nia is ok.

I find it a bit tedious as a name because it's so similar to a million other names like Mia, Mya, Mila, Nara, Lia, Aria, May, Amara, Ayla, Lena... I don't know, people just seem to pick a consonant and add a couple of vowels and get a pretty sounding girls name. I doesn't have any gravity or identity to it IMO. Having said that there's nothing offensive about it.

Powderperfume · 21/10/2019 08:44

diddlediddle you do realise it has a lot of gravity in Welsh heritage? It's not a made up name

GreigLaidlawsbarofsoap · 21/10/2019 08:48

Love it! Good associations for me too but also think it's very pretty.

diddlediddle · 21/10/2019 08:49

@Powderperfume I know it is a welsh name and not made up. I'm not aware of the level of its importance but I'm only sharing an opinion. If it is meaningful to the OP then that's great and I don't dislike it. I didn't say it was horrible. I'm just saying that to many people it will get lost in a sea of similar names.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 21/10/2019 08:50

It’s lovely!

NoSquirrels · 21/10/2019 08:52

I know a Niah. Nia is ok.

Nia is the original Celtic name from which the English variant Niah is derived!

diddlediddle · 21/10/2019 08:57

Yes I actually do much prefer Nia. I find Niah a bit affected.

NoSauce · 21/10/2019 10:46

I don’t like it at all.
