Struggling with Boy's name to go with our surname

shadow7uk · 17/10/2019 08:47

Our Surname is Ayres and we have really been struggling to come up with a boys name.

So far we have:

George
Elliott
Theo
Dexter

But we aren't 100% on any.. we have found it difficult to find a name that goes well with our surname.

Any ideas?

What about Harry? That wouldn't run into the surname. Will have a think about others but that was the first thought.

Like them all but Dexter. Name of a serial killer o TV. One of my neighbours has a dog named Dexter - he is very, very nasty!!

How about;

Nathan
Matthew
Christopher
Daniel
Robin
Seth

I had a surname that started with a vowel so my parents avoided hard end letters like C/K or T which blend into your surname.

I think all your choices are fine, you are looking for it sounding like two separate names rather than it blending in.

Spied · 17/10/2019 11:10

I like Owen

IncrediblySadToo · 17/10/2019 11:17

it’s quite difficult isn’t it. I think a lot of yours & others posted do ‘run in’ but that might be

I think you need something ‘hard’ like

Philip
David
Nathan

Rather than names that end in r, s, t, l, y, x, c etc

IncrediblySadToo · 17/10/2019 11:18

I think Owen Ayers Sounds like O.N.S. And ONS isn’t a great

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 17/10/2019 11:42

Thank you for the responses, Samuel will be the boy's uncle so we can't use that one.

I like Theo out of those, with your surname. I think 2-3 syllables would sound the best. I personally don’t care for names ending in R with your surname.
Other ideas...
Maxwell Ayers
Jaeson/Jason/Jayson Ayers
Tomas/Thomas Ayers
Leo Ayers

bridgetreilly · 17/10/2019 20:43

Theo

Hugo
Jamie
Archie
Digby
Jonah
Micah
Josiah
