I put up my shortlist (Jovie, Lumi and Elvi) before, but now looking for opinions on my longlist (the more background options for us!) considering I've still got 10 weeks left Grin

So, my official long list for my girl was:
Effy
Elva/Elvi
Fable
Hero
Iggy
Jovie
Lennon
Maeva
Percy
Roma
Roxy
Saga
Sage
Story (loved this especially but didn't get one good reaction!)

Some of them are a bit out there (hence why they were ruled off!) but I've really liked every one of these.

What's your opinions on my long list? Grin

Effy. Nice but Effie is better
Elva/Elva OK
Fable. NO
Hero Yes, if for a girl.
Iggy NO. Unless you are expecting a kitten. Also, sounds like Icky.
Jovie. Yes. Jobie also nice.
Lennon No
Maeva No
Percy NO
Roma. OK
Roxy. OK
Saga. NO. This is a holiday brand for old people
Sage No
Story NO

Percy is the worst. Sage is bad. No to Iggy.

I don’t dislike the other names even though I haven’t heard of some of them.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 17/10/2019 15:11

I suggested effie/effy on your last thread! On not completely sold on the others I'm sorry, how about maeve instead of maeva, its more well known name or juno?

notalwaysalondoner · 17/10/2019 15:25

Effy - quite like
Elva/Elvi - Elva is quite pretty, Elvi sounds like an elf or Elvis, dislike it
Fable - quite quirky but people will mishear as Mabel
Hero - love it, unusual but classic and alternative all at the same time
Iggy - no
Jovie - no
Lennon - not my cup of tea but could be pretty, people will of course think you are a Beatles megafan
Maeva - ok
Percy - not for a girl, she'll have a lifetime of people getting her gender wrong
Roma - big associations with gypsy/traveller community, not that this is a bad thing
Roxy - ok, quite popular
Saga - holidays for old people
Sage - lovely
Story - ok if you don't mind people thinking you made it up

In what universe is Roxy “quite popular”?! It’s number 990 on the name lists with only around 30 babies given it as a name last year.
Roxanna is number 2,187 in the name charts
Roxanne is number 850

You would be hard pressed to find a more unusual name!

Leopardprintboots · 17/10/2019 15:49

I really like Roxy/ Roxanne/Roxanna

honeybunlatte · 17/10/2019 17:07

Elvie - or as I said on your other post Elfie
Hero - Classic
Lennon - love the nn Leni for a girl
Maeva - I love! But prefer Maeve
Story - I actually love Story.

bridgetreilly · 17/10/2019 21:10

Hero is great! I also quite like Roxy and Sage.

FlyingSquid · 17/10/2019 21:15

Hera, perhaps?

I know a Persie short for Persephone. I understand that's practically compulsory on MN.

Prettylittlelady · 17/10/2019 21:58

Effy - I like this one in theory but i feel like in the future there might be some F off Effy at school.
Elva - no
Fable - no
Hero - I like this but it’s very try hard
Iggy - Azelea
Jovie - I know 2 cats with this name
Lennon - ok for a boy but not a girl
Percy - Pig
Roma - quite pretty
Roxy - very 90s
Saga - old people’s holiday
Sage - actually really like this one.
Story - I like it, weirdly, your taste is very out there and I think this could be used as a middle I can see why you like it

CampingItUp · 17/10/2019 23:06

Oh, god, you are considering Percy for a girl?
Make it a double NO.
