Out of your girls names I think Cleo sounds best with middle name Joyce. The other names are all a bit ‘s’ sounding together

Edward is a great name for a boy.

And yes please come back and tell us what you choose!

Grandmi · 07/10/2019 19:07

I like Laurence/ Laurie for a boy and all the girls names..don’t like Joyce !!

071019DD · 07/10/2019 20:06

Thanks again... keeping this tally chart up to date is giving me something to do at least!!!

And @Grandmi I dont have any say over OHs nan's name lol but love having a family connection, especially as she's such a matriarch of the family... this will be her 27th great grandchild and there's def worse names than Joyce. My DD1 has my late nan's name (Jean). My other nan is a Eunice Blush

Agree, Joyce is better than Eunice and a nice tribute to Great Grandma Joyce.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 08/10/2019 10:24

Cleo works best with Joyce, all the other names have too much of an 's' sound together.
Christopher Leslie.

MissHenty · 08/10/2019 10:50

I personally wouldn’t ever pick a first name based on how it sounds with a middle name. Middle names hardly get used. I only found out my husband’s middle name after we’d been dating for about 2+ years. It never came up. Don’t remember any friends’ middle names from school. Please please pick a name you like, not one that works well with Joyce!

Wasn't just me that commented, chocolatecake12 also said the same thing. I wouldn't choose a first name based on the middle name but asked for my opinion I prefer the flow of cleo Joyce compared to the others

071019DD · 08/10/2019 11:46

@MissHenty pretty sure we'll pick a name we like lol, as you say middle names hardly ever come up, for me it's just a little factor to add to the mix but for some it may be a bigger deal for whatever reason Smile

@Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav totally appreciate your opinion, it was me that mentioned middle names so fully expected people to mention them too. Thank you for sharing your thoughts really appreciated Smile

Thanks again everyone....

Yes so sorry if my comment came across rude! Didn’t mean it to!! I know many people think first names and middle names working well is very important, I disagree but neither of us are right or wrong xxx

So sorry I tend to get quite invested in name chat 🤣

Confusednewmum1 · 08/10/2019 15:13

Alice, Beatrice, Kit and Edward where on my list at some point

Id avoid Beatrice just because of middle names and initials being BJ it will never come up apart from an important situation such as Dr BJ Robertson is free to see you now.

Alice Joyce is lovely and the nickname AJ is cute on a little tom boy but Alice is so feminine and lovely.

Kit and Edward pretty much both great names prefer Ted instead of Eddie as a nickname for edward though

Grin NP at all... all good fun!

Alice or Edward

disappear · 08/10/2019 16:47

Beatrice (Bess) - like Beatrice, not Bess
Cleo - love this. I teach one at the moment and she's delightful
Alice - lovely
Grace - like but it is VERY popular

Edison - not keen
Edward - very current, could become dated
Albert - not for me
Christopher (Kitt) - love it
Robin (Bob) - love it with nn Robby
Lawrence - like

FizzyGreenWater · 08/10/2019 17:06

Beatrice for sure, Cleo second. But - she WILL end up as Bea, not Bess!

Like Kit. Not really fussed on any of the others, Robin at a push.

diddlediddle · 09/10/2019 04:29

😂 the idea that Edward could become dated, it's been a popular name for hundreds of years!

I like Alice or Cleo
And Edward, Albert or Robin

Edison is awful. Grace is boring.

Basil90 · 09/10/2019 04:33

Your DS won't thank you for giving him Leslie as a middle name. Let's hope it's a girl eh

edgeofheaven · 09/10/2019 05:01

Two names ending in "-ce" doesn't sound great to me. So I would not put Beatrice, Alice, or Grace with Joyce. Unfortunately not a fan of Cleo so can't help much on the girl list.

I’m guessing you’re up feeding/rocking/changing little Cleo - enjoy her!

Mumof21989 · 20/10/2019 06:57

I like Cleo, Grace or Albert. I think Alice is abit dated now. Edward is ok too. Good luck with your birth and enjoy your new baby xx
