Matilda or Seren

mumofnoahandjacob · 06/10/2019 11:33

Brothers Noah and Jacob.
Thought I had decided to stick with Matilda however when looking for middles I rediscovered Seren. Now its completely thrown a spanner in the works.

Which do you prefer?
Noah, Jacob and Matilda or
Noah, Jacon and Seren.

Had thought of using both but think Matilda Seren sounds awkward. Although Seren Matilda does sound better.

Matilda Seren, job done.

MissHenty · 06/10/2019 11:38

I love the name Matilda so much

Matilda Seren is lovely I think. I wouldn’t worry too much anyway it’s very rare you have to say your first and middle names. I didn’t even know my DH middle name til very recently as he’d never thought to mention it 🤣

It’ll be nice to use seren too though so she can use it if she were to prefer it to Matilda

formerbabe · 06/10/2019 11:38

Matilda goes better with your boys names.

I actually prefer Seren as a name though.

MissHenty · 06/10/2019 11:40

Seren just sounds slightly unfinished to me . Serena? Wren?

If you love it though I’d def use it as middle name x

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 06/10/2019 11:42

Matilda - not that I’m biased Wink.

However, every class seems to have a couple of Matilda’s... and I’ve yet to meet a Seren outside MN baby naming threads. That wouldn’t bother me - but then my dc all have v. boring top one hundred kind of names.

MrsBertBibby · 06/10/2019 12:32

Seren, hands down. Lovely name. I have known one Seren, and she was an absolute live wire and the most inquisitive child I think I have met.

LarkDescending · 06/10/2019 12:35

Matilda Seren for me.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/10/2019 12:39

Matilda. It’s friendly interesting and has character.
Seren is horrible. Very harsh.

bridgetreilly · 06/10/2019 12:47

Matilda.

I don't like Seren at all.

MrsJoshNavidi · 06/10/2019 12:55

Seren just sounds slightly unfinished to me

How very dare you!I. t's a Welsh name. It means 'star'. Very popular in Wales.

MissHenty · 06/10/2019 12:56

Yes I looked up it’s meaning. It’s lovely. It just doesn’t sound like a finished name to me. ☺️
Serena or Wren does @MrsJoshNavidi sorry if any offence caused x

MissHenty · 06/10/2019 12:57

Matilda is declining in popularity- now outside the top 30.thats probably why I don’t know any - my children are both quite young

eeksville · 06/10/2019 13:05

i know a Welsh Seren, it's a beautiful name.

MikeUniformMike · 06/10/2019 13:53

Matilda is very popular and Seren is awful.

Yutes · 06/10/2019 13:54

Seren

DaveTheGhost · 06/10/2019 13:55

Matilda. It goes better with your other DC names too

Grufallosfriends · 06/10/2019 20:21

Seven is lovely.

Matilda is overused and already starting to feel a little dated.

Shadow1234 · 06/10/2019 21:14

Love the name Seren. (but do think Matilda peobably fits better with Noah and Jacob).

medicstudentmum · 06/10/2019 21:39

Seren definitely! Its beautiful. I don't like Matilda at all.

TeddyToaster · 07/10/2019 20:01

Seren is one of my favourites and Matilda will invariably get shorted to Tilly so it depends on if you like that? X

JinCa · 08/10/2019 20:10

Matilda is fab. And there are fewer of them these days so I’m liking it better again. Seren is lovely if said with a Welsh accent - a nice rounded ‘Rrr’ and a strong N - but as pp have said, it sounds a bit wishy washy / incomplete when said with some other accents, especially English. Depends where you live?

HoneyandSpice · 08/10/2019 20:16

I also think Matilda Seren. Job done.
I know a Seren. She's 20. Very cool and great personality. Knows her own mind. Very individual in her style. So I think of her when I think of that name.

Disfordarkchocolate · 08/10/2019 20:20

Seren Matilda is beautiful.

I only know the Welsh publisher so finding it was a name with a lovely meaning was a nice surprise.

Goldiegorilla · 09/10/2019 02:25

Matilda

Seren I can’t stopped thinking of Seven and then Seinfeld.

Whattodoabout · 09/10/2019 12:08

Matilda. The only Seren I met was male, a Danish bloke.
