I love the name Alistair but can’t use it as it’s my nephew.

What I love about the name is that it’s a classic normal name but it has actually never been popular. I also love the nickname Ali.

From what I can see the name has never actually been in the Uk top 100 names (why not!! I can’t understand it) and the name is now close to number 500 in the name charts. Is there another equivalent name? All I can think of is Laurence. But I don’t like that as much. Anything else?

Names like Christopher aren’t the same as they were very popular in the 1980s

Bit late to the thread, I also think Alistair is a great name. I also love Stuart. Again I can't understand why it isn't more popular. Also Nathan may be quite popular, I'm not sure, but another good probably underused name.

I agree about Nathan @Clayplease - it’s on a downward trajectory and now outside the top 100. Will add this to list.
Stuart I don’t really like. I knew it’s silly but it sounds like sewer to me. The name itself doesn’t conjure up a nice feeling
