I am a Hannah, born in the age group where every other child was one Grin.
Currently pregnant with a girl due October 27th and the name of my daughter in my head for years is Savannah.
I know it is not a well-liked name on here by most but I don’t think anything will change my mind - I love it!
But obviously they rhyme severely sad
Do you think I can do it or is it silly? The only other name I like is Violet but it was my dog’s name growing up so that would be a bit odd.
Whilst I’m on the topic, being called Hannah is a pain...
I love names like Rosanna, Annie, Julianna etc but using them sounds stupid!
Wishing I was named Grace now like the other half of girls my age.

Late thirties here, knew so many Hannahs. But I love Hannah and there don't seem to be as many younger ones now. Savannah is lovely, Sienna is lovely, Susannah is a bit meh, and Grace is so overused. Grace, Gracie, Grace-Louise, Gracie-May, argh

RuthW · 02/10/2019 09:33

Savannah is lovely and absolutely fine when you are called Hannah.

Then other names are lovely too.

Frazzledbutcalm · 02/10/2019 09:38

Savannah is fine ... to me, it doesn’t rhyme with your name. It’s a name in its own right. I see them as two totally different names.

NoSauce · 02/10/2019 09:43

Of course it rhymes Confused

Joeybee · 02/10/2019 09:45

I don't think it matters at all that your name and your babies name rhyme. It's not often that you'll have to say "hi I'm Hannah, this is Savannah"even then, I really don't think people would be fussed.

Frazzledbutcalm · 02/10/2019 09:46

I just see/hear 2 different names ... 2 entirely separate names ... there’s no issue ...

SilentBob · 02/10/2019 10:04

I know many, many men who named their Male child exactly the same name as them. No-one seems to care about that, weirdly.

Do it!

Clownfish123 · 02/10/2019 11:54

Seriously choose a name you love! Who cares if it rhymes? Lots of boys throughout history were called the exact same name as their father 'look here comes James and James' it wasn't a big deal.
The names rhyme but they are very different. Different length, different initial, different style.
Just be pleased you have found a name you love Smile

I am 41 and there were about five Hannah's in my year--I am surprised people guessed that the OP was young.

I think rhyming names for mother and daughter are fine--just don't call a second daughter something that also rhymes or it will look like you are doing it on purpose. And I think Savannah is fine as a name.

irisheyesaresmiling7 · 02/10/2019 13:18

Savannah is a beautiful name and you love it so go for it.
To be honest I wouldn't pass any remarks on them rhyming and I can't understand why some people say to use to Susannah as a replacement Confused they are two completely different names!

MontanaSkies · 02/10/2019 13:25

I have a lot of names saved in my phone as "Parent & Child" so I remember who is who when organising playdates etc. "Hannah & Savannah" would make me smile but I don't think it's terrible. At least it's memorable!

Wheelson · 02/10/2019 13:36

For some reason I hear 'bananas in pyjamas' when I think of Hannah and Savannah - sorry!

saywhatwhatnow · 02/10/2019 13:41

I'd probably think 'oh they rhyme' the first time I met you, and then it wouldn't cross my mind again because I'm a grown up. Go for it OP!

sashamichele · 02/10/2019 13:44

Love savannah go for it

Twelve8Ts · 02/10/2019 16:59

I too see them as completely different names. I wouldn’t think anything of it if I heard them together. A lot of boys are named after their dads and no one says that’s silly.

Blastnamechangeagain · 03/10/2019 07:28

It is a bit silly but I know a Claire with a baby Clara and that got a lot of raised eyebrows. You end up as just Savanna’s mum when they are at school. If it’s really your favorite just do it.

Ellmau · 03/10/2019 08:45

If you like Julianna, what about Juliet/Juliette?

daisypond · 03/10/2019 08:49

I think it’s fine be. I like Savannah.

Proseccoinamug · 03/10/2019 17:15

It totally doesn’t matter.

Ohyesiam · 03/10/2019 17:16

But obviously they rhyme severely sad
