I’m still totally and utterly struggling to choose a name for our little girl. My partner and I had a list of about 30 that were ones we liked individually or together .. we have managed to whittle it down bit by bit but I’m still not sure I’ve found the one. So for a bit of fun what would you choose from the following or do you have any suggestions...

  • Alice Lynne Murphy
  • Abigail Lynne Murphy
  • Imogen Lynne Murphy
  • Maggie Lynne Murphy
  • Rosie Lynne Murphy

I would choose Abigail.

OpiesOldLady · 27/09/2019 09:22

Maggie Murphy is excellent!

Divgirl2 · 27/09/2019 09:25

Imogen Murphy! Beautiful name. Also like Rosie.

notso · 27/09/2019 09:34

Imogen or Maggie
Rosie is lovely but I don't think it sounds as good with Murphy although Rose Murphy is better.

Not keen on Alice or Abigail.

Em012 · 27/09/2019 09:37

Edith

Emmy/Emmie

GoingBackTo505 · 27/09/2019 09:55

Maggie is gorgeous!

MikeUniformMike · 27/09/2019 10:00

Is Maggie Murphy a bit too much?
I'd choose Abigail I think but it might be Abi Murphy.
Imogen is ok but I don't like Immy much.

All the names are ok.

Starshapeddreams · 27/09/2019 11:04

I'd chose Abigail, it's a great name and goes well with your surname (not biased at all Wink)

Morado · 27/09/2019 11:09

I don't love Maggie but I do agree that Maggie Murphy sounds the best!

TheJoxter · 27/09/2019 11:14

All lovely names (although I’m not so keen on Abigail)
I think Maggie Lynne flows best, also Maggie Murphy sounds cool.

In order of favourite to least favourite for me it goes
Maggie
Imogen
Rosie
Alice
Abigail

@MissHenty I will try and remember to update when we do finally decide.

@MikeUniformMike

This is my predicament.. We both have grandparents that's were/are Margaret so it would be kind of a nice tribute but I don't know if Maggie Murphy is a bit too much and also Maggie is cute for a baby and an older person but I can't picture an 8 year old or a 20something called Maggie.

I've got a thing for names being shortened too so if people were to say Abi or Immy it would annoy me because that's not the name - if that's what I wanted her to be called then that's what I would choose - know what I mean?

Any names suggestions that are more than "ok" ?

@Starshapeddreams I assume from your comment you're a Murphy too. Smile

@TheJoxter thanks for ranking them Smile

@CocoJones I think any name is likely to get nicknamed unfortunately

Even one syllable ones. It’s a sign of endearment to call someone something other than their official name. I don’t think there’s a guarantee with any name that it won’t somehow get changed to something else

NoSauce · 27/09/2019 12:30

Alice

MikeUniformMike · 27/09/2019 12:40

Why can't you imagine an 8-year old Maggie or a 20-year old one.
It's fine. I know a few Maggies of different ages.

Equatoria · 27/09/2019 12:51

Imogen

userabcname · 27/09/2019 13:26

I really like Rosie or Maggie from your list.

userabcname · 27/09/2019 13:26

Oh and a suggestion: Tabitha

singswithitsfingers · 27/09/2019 14:01

Meg rather than Maggie?
