Got the boy name sorted with James Matthew. Hubby and I have chosen Matilda for a girl but he likes the middle name Bella but I like the middle name Rose better.

Which one sounds better? Xx

Bella sounds wrong. Rose is very overused.

DramaAlpaca · 27/09/2019 00:44

I love James Matthew, very nice.

I prefer Matilda Rose to Matilda Bella. Matilda Rose flows better. Matilda Belle would work better than Bella.

KellyHall · 27/09/2019 00:54

It depends a bit on the surname too.

Did you jointly chose the first name? My husband and I each chose a first name (him a boy's and me a girl's), whoever hadn't chosen the first name got to chose the middle name...

Apple35 · 27/09/2019 01:05

We both chose the first name. The surname is Crighton.

Belle would work better than Bella, and Rose, even though it works well, is just so over-used in the middle. But out of your 2 I would choose Matlida Rose.

manicinsomniac · 27/09/2019 01:19

I think every Matilda I know is a Matilda Rose. Not that that should necessarily stop you using Rose; it's popular because they sound great together.

I do really like Matilda Belle as an alternative to Matilda Bella though.

Joeybee · 27/09/2019 01:48

Matilda Bella doesn't flow very well at all, so I'd go with Matilda Rose. Then again how often do you have to say your entire name out loud? Maybe it doesn't matter that it doesn't flow well 🤷🏻‍♀️

Apple35 · 27/09/2019 01:57

I also like Matilda Grace or Matilda Ivy.

Not keen on Bella it doesn't fit with Matilda, Matilda Rose has a lovely ring to it. Matilda Grace nice too

MrsGilly1 · 27/09/2019 04:39

diddlediddle · 27/09/2019 05:32

Bella doesn't work at all. Rose and grace are so overdone as middle names, it's like Louise or Jane from the 80s. They've lost all meaning because it's so ubiquitous.

Matilda Belle or Matilda Ivy are both very nice and not boring. I prefer a middle name with some meaning, if either of those have that.

bridgetreilly · 27/09/2019 09:01

Matilda Isabel.

AverageMummy · 27/09/2019 09:19

Matilda Ivy is beautiful
James Matthew is also ace

20viona · 27/09/2019 09:20

Matilda Bella doesn't work
Matilda Rose is common

Matilda Belle May work.

MissHenty · 27/09/2019 09:53

Just wanted to say I LOVE the name Matilda

I’d say Matilda Rose is perfect

aibutohavethisusername · 27/09/2019 10:50

Matilda Bella Rose

Antonin · 27/09/2019 12:08

Matilda Belle flows better.
Or Matilda Annabelle

Apple35 · 27/09/2019 12:33

I would just think Annabelle the doll!

MrsGilly1 · 27/09/2019 12:53

Apple35 · 27/09/2019 15:21

Apple35 · 27/09/2019 21:20
