Both nice. I prefer Ernest

Ricekrispie22 · 22/09/2019 16:16

I prefer Ernest. Ernie is cute.

DramaAlpaca · 22/09/2019 16:19

I quite like Emmett.

In my opinion, since you asked, Ernest is truly hideous & Ernie isn't in the least bit 'cute'.

Marcipex · 22/09/2019 16:23

Sorry, both are truly dreadful.

userabcname · 22/09/2019 16:24

I like Ernest

Newearringsplease · 22/09/2019 16:24

My brother in law is a Ernest its truly dreadful

AverageMummy · 22/09/2019 16:56

Not a fan of either but Ernest of the two

MayaWhySoDown · 22/09/2019 16:58

I prefer Emmett, although neither are exactly to my taste.

LunarSea · 22/09/2019 16:59

Don't really like either. In a similar slightly less common 2 syllable names starting with E vein the Welsh name Ellis or Emrys are better.

LunarSea · 22/09/2019 17:00

Or Evan

Chitarra · 22/09/2019 17:00

Ernest

Fifteenthnamechange · 22/09/2019 17:01

Emmett Smile

painauchocolat84 · 22/09/2019 19:03

Ernest/Ernie is a primary school insult for a stupid person where I live. Kids do this horrible face and say “Eeerrrrrnie!” Or “Eeerrrrnest!” When they think someone has said something stupid. Has been since I was at primary school!

FizzyGreenWater · 22/09/2019 19:04

I think of Emmett Till which is just too sad an association for me. So Ernest, but as names neither of them really appeal.

Iliada · 22/09/2019 19:26

Emmett a million times.

It makes me think of Doc Brown from ‘Back To The Future’, who was a cool, clever guy. The image I have of young Emmett is of being highly intelligent, with a great sense of humour and a slightly kookie style of dressing.

Not so keen on Ernest, except if you are a huge Oscar Wilde fan. In which case, naming him Ernest might be highly important to you!

MikeUniformMike · 22/09/2019 20:45

Ernest is slightly less dreadful than Emmett.
Elliott is nicer.

user1493494961 · 22/09/2019 21:52

Not much to choose between them in terms of dreadfulness.

glitterbiscuits · 22/09/2019 21:59

Have you got anything in third place?

bridgetreilly · 22/09/2019 22:10

Ernest is lovely. I also like Eric and Edgar but am not a fan of Emmett.

Buttonface9 · 22/09/2019 22:58

Thanks for opinions, we knew the names wouldnt be for everyone! Think I'm swaying towards Ernest.

I prefer Ernest.

IckleBear · 23/09/2019 11:23

Ernest

Grufallosfriends · 23/09/2019 11:27

Ernest is a great name! Strong, classic and timeless.

MissHenty · 23/09/2019 11:41

I really like both of them

Ernest probably pips it because nn will be easier and better
