Help me short list!

Here’s our long list, we desperately need to shorten it down. Baby is due the end of next month. Here’s our list, what is your favourite?

Adam - love it
Alexander - like it
Edward - meh
Dexter - not my taste
Silas - absolutely not
Casper - ok
Fabian - not unless you're French
Cormac - dislike
Connor - strongly dislike
Lorcan - very ugly
Elijah - meh
Ezra - no
Felix - I hate this name
Jonah - like it
Otis - reminds me of aardvarks
Gideon - please don't

I like Adam, Alexander and Jonah.

Adam - like a lot
Alexander - like a lot, but popular
Edward - OK
Dexter - hideous
Silas - altogether too Victorian
Casper - like, but I think it should, in English anyway, be spelled Caspar
Fabian - like, but you'll want to agree on pronunciation
Cormac - not keen
Connor - not keen
Lorcan - like this a lot
Elijah - like
Ezra - very trendy atm, but makes me think of Ezra Pound, who had some dodgy views
Felix - this is one I really should like but don't
Jonah - for some reason I feel this has a sort of pessimistic sound
Otis - too hipster
Gideon - no

My stand-out favourites are Adam and Lorcan.

Dexter--sounds harsh
Silas--sounds sort of farmish
Casper--ok
Fabian--sounds a bit pretentious
Cormac--don't like

Lorcan--don't like the orc sound
Elijah--like it
Ezra--don't like it
Felix--don't like it
Jonah---not awful
Otis - ok
Gideon--no

I would suggest milo as a possibility

Choice would probably depend on surname!

If none of them feel like the one, maybe they aren't. Have you tried saying them out loud and in conversation as if you are talking about them eg, I'm taking lorcan to the park today
Husband can you please change fabian's stinky nappy?
See if doing something like that helps. I found that useful and writing out the name with middle name and surname

I’ve tried saying them but they all seem so grown up for a baby!. DP has suggested Arthur, Billy and Stanley and I think I like these more. Surname is one syllable and goes with basically everything, middle name will be decided based on the name we choose, but one of the middle names will be John.

Adam is really boring! Your other are far more individual/quirky!

I love Zachary, Caspar (spelt like this) Felix & Cormac most.

Our son is called Sterling. I also like Blake, Aidan and Stephen ( my DH name)

I actually really love Stanley! And much prefer it to a few on your list, Stan sounds a great nickname for a little one, definitely time for a revival!
I would maybe go with a slightly different middle name alongside John to stop it being too old eg Stanley Zachary John

Most of the rest are fine. I strongly dislike: Elijah, Ezra, Jonah, Gideon.

I personally LOVE Elijah and am desperate for it to be on my own baby name list (12 weeks pregnant atm) but partner said no 😭

Likes on your list... Alexander & Ezra.

I've said no to the Irish names because I am assuming no or little connection. I like John as a first or middle name.
