Evangelina

Thinking ahead, I've only recently found out I'm expecting but I have a strong feeling it's another girl. Feeling a strong connection to the name Evangelina. I know my family will hate it so I'm keeping it under wraps... DH isn't completely sold on it but is considering it. We will probably use Evie as a nickname when she is little.
Any thoughts please

I prefer Evangeline - 4 syllables seems long already already - I know 2 cute little ones with this name

Others you might love:
Juliet
Madeleine
Bernadette
Josephine

It’s pretty but agree with pp that it’s a bit too long. Evangeline better as shorter but tbh wouldn’t use it as it’s slightly too prim and proper for me.
Juliet is a good shout x

Peachbubble · 16/09/2019 13:32

It's lovely, as is Evangeline, but I think she may end up as Evie, rather than her name in full. And there are a lot of Evies right now.

Grufallosfriends · 16/09/2019 13:36

Pretty name.

But Evie is so dull from overuse!

MamaGothel · 16/09/2019 13:49

Good point about Evie it is pretty but very popular where I live. I also have an Emily and I worry I will mix them up all the time.
I'm going to have a think about Evangeline, it doesn't appeal to me quite so much but I do like the soft sound of it.

Thank you AverageMummy for the suggestions, I like Juliet but DH is set against it unfortunately.

Georgiana has a similar vibe & is really pretty
Also Vivienne

Cleopatrai · 16/09/2019 15:23

Evangelina and Emily is cute although Evangelina is considerably longer than Emily.

It’s a lovely name!

Claudine

Annalise

Beautiful. I had a friend called Evan, I had no idea her name was Evangeline until adulthood though!

Maryhadalittlelambo · 16/09/2019 16:52

I much much much prefer Evangeline. Absolutely beautiful. If you really want the A ending, why not just choose Angelina

aibutohavethisusername · 16/09/2019 17:33

I’m sorry but I prefer Evangeline too.

MamaGothel · 16/09/2019 18:13

I just can't really warm up to Evangeline I'm afraid.
Not a fan of Angelina- it's a bit close to my mums name.
Cleopatrai I had wanted to call her Emmeline but I let myself get talked out of it and I've regretted it ever since Sad
Thanks for all the suggestions I am mulling them over.
Other names I like are:
Susannah
Jennifer
Faith
Hope
Everleigh

Malyshek · 18/09/2019 09:10

If you call her Evangelina, no one will call her that - everyone will use a nickname. Evie, Angie, Lina, etc.
For what it's worth I like it (though I actually prefer Evangeline). Sounds like the name of a lady knight to me, feminine but strong and badass :)

But you should choose a name you like and feel comfortable with, sod what other people think.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 18/09/2019 09:21

Emily and Evangelina are verrrry different ie one is very popular and one is very flamboyant so in that sense I think nn Evie would be a nice balance with Emily. Maybe a bit too similar though!

What about Elisabelle or Elisabella if you like fancy!

Ariella??

MondeoFan · 18/09/2019 09:25

My daughter has Evangeline as a middle name as I loved it but didn't love it enough to use as a first name. Too many Evie's already but you could use Eva? Which is better than Ava as too many Ava's aswell.

HamiltonBentley · 18/09/2019 09:42

I love Evangeline but can't quite warm to Evangelina. I do really like Susannah from your list and think it complements Emily really well.

Names to consider -
Felicity
Elena
Madeleine
Caroline/Carolina
Matilda
Genevieve
Celia
Lena

MsTSwift · 18/09/2019 09:45

My concern is she will inevitably become Eve or Evie which is totally overused and dull now

AdelaideK · 18/09/2019 09:49

I prefer Evangeline too. It will be shortened and I'd agree Evie is very common but so is Emily so they will go well together.

NoSauce · 18/09/2019 09:52

I find it very harsh sounding.

MamaGothel · 18/09/2019 10:11

I'm going to completely out myself here if anybody knows me irl but my other daughters name is Clara. I'm tempted to go with Faith to stick to the similar length but I have loved Susannah for so long, I wanted to use the name in both of my other pregnancies so might go for Susannah.
I still really love the name Evangelina but I'm finding it hard to imagine using the name day to day.

So if I can completely change my thread Grin Faith or Susannah? I love both

FizzyGreenWater · 18/09/2019 10:22

Susannah is MILES better than Faith and fits perfectly with your others - slightly old fashioned, could imagine the name being used in an Austen novel.

Emily, Clara and Susannah sounds great.

No to Evangelina, it's just OTT sounding with the 'a' ending. Susannah once again beats it hollow!

FizzyGreenWater · 18/09/2019 10:23

Oh and Faith to me sounds kind of 60s - I put it with Janice and Elaine type names. Not terrible, but just not right!
