Lovely names apart from Bryher

Love Edith

Also love Margaret (Maggie)

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/09/2019 22:26

I love Eva. It’s feisty strong and powerful yet feminine graceful and gentle at the same time. Evie is too twee and Eve is too bland, so Eva is an excellent balance
Bryher is very pretty.
I blow hot and cold with Astrid at the moment I’m cold.
I like Edie but not Edith. It’s what I call an unfriendly name.
Agnes. See Edith.

Other ideas
Emilia. Kate. Lois. Martha. Delilah. Penelope
Farrah. Julia. Iris. Margaret. Maria. Florence

AdaColeman · 14/09/2019 22:27

I like Astrid and Edith.

Eva is extremely popular and has been for some years. Not keen on Agnes as will probably get Aggie as a nn.

Bryher will spend a lifetime spelling their name.

Pennyjane89 · 14/09/2019 22:28

Only like Astrid

Jayteedee · 14/09/2019 22:31

Astrid is nice but I do feel it's a bit cold. Any reason for the spelling of Brhyer? Not Briar, which is lovely and not commonly used. Agatha rather than Agnes maybe?

QuinoaWest · 14/09/2019 22:34

Really like Astrid.

Have never met one IRL, of any age.
A cool name, which is criminally neglected, imo!

Grasspigeons · 14/09/2019 22:35

Lovely set of names. Particularly Agnes and Edith

meepmoop · 14/09/2019 22:36

Mixed views, Astrid and Edith seem to be the favourites.

It's spelt Bryher as it's an island on the Isles of Scilly, we're in Cornwall and holiday over there

I wouldn't use any of them to be honest, Edith at a push.

Frith2013 · 14/09/2019 23:17

Astrid - ok
Eva - too popular
Bryher - ok
Edith - meh
Agnes - ok

IsobelRae23 · 15/09/2019 00:06

I wouldn’t use any, Astrid if I was forced to use one.

Astronica · 15/09/2019 06:06

I think Bryher is stunning, and my favourite of the list. I do like unexpected and strong sounding names.

I really like Edith, my 2nd choice. The others are all nice enough. Astrid is strong and distinctive, and Agnes has strong tradition without being popular which is a hard combination to achieve. Eva is traditional and sweet, though combined with several similar names (Evelyn, Evie etc) is a popular sound right now.

Laura221 · 15/09/2019 06:25

I like them all, with maybe the exception of bryher. Edith stands out to me most. I love eva but it is very popular now. What about francis? Or Blair?

joystir59 · 15/09/2019 06:33

Eva is the only one I like

MrsBertBibby · 15/09/2019 09:48

Gorgeous, all of them. I'd have used Edith if I'd had a girl.

Bryher may prove irritating to her though, in terms of spelling and pronunciation.

Eva is perhaps a bit well used, but still very nice.

Icantthinkofanynewnames · 15/09/2019 09:54

LOVE Astrid and Edith!

AverageMummy · 15/09/2019 12:00

Breyer is really awful - the rest are lovely
Astrid is very cool & quirky

BlueChampagne · 16/09/2019 12:35

Bryher is lovely but I agree she will spend her life explaining it and spelling it. Presumably Agnes for the same reason?

Helen is an option if you want a Scillonian connection. Armorel (of Lyonesse) for something more unusual?

MikeUniformMike · 16/09/2019 20:43

Astrid - lovely
Eva - don't like it
Bryher - only if you have some connection
Edith - no
Agnes - not sure

Sunflower160 · 16/09/2019 20:55

Astrid - nice
Eva - ok, bit meh
Bryher - not keen on how this looks written down
Edith - lovely. And Edie is a lovely nickname too
Agnes - not keen, too harsh sounding

meepmoop · 16/09/2019 22:26

Thanks everyone,

We're still very undecided, we're thinking of using Bryher as a middle name as we love it but understand it might be annoying for her in the future

Astrid

123Dancewithme · 16/09/2019 23:11

Agnes is my favourite

Graymare · 16/09/2019 23:24

Edith or Agnes are my favorites.
Annice is a slightly softer sounding variant.

Joeybee · 17/09/2019 05:21

Astrid
Eva
Bryher
Edith
Agnes

Astrid - makes me think of Space. I think it is a nice name, a bit too out-there for me, but it's gaining popularity. There's no nickname for it though.

Eva - one of my all time favourite names. Only thing that puts me off is how popular Eve/Eva/Evie type names are right now.

Bryher - not familiar with this name. It looks made up. Briar is a much nicer alternative. A lot of people wouldn't know how to say or spell this name.

Edith - lovely name. Classic, vintage, elegant. Edie is a lovely nickname too.

Agnes - vintage name that's coming back into popularity again. To me it sounds a bit harsh, and Aggy is the only nickname, which just makes me think of Kim and Aggie!
